Please could sks check the 1841 census for Kemsing for Harriet Allen age about 20, possibly with son John, about 1. I have entry for husband John with his parents,John and Fanny, but no wife. They were married in 1839 in Bromley. Harriet's father, John Reeves, was living in Kemsing at the time maybe she was there.
Many thanks

Hi Megg,
Here is the entry for John Reeves in Kemsing, but sadly Harriet is not with him:
ref HO107 483-9 folio 10: Kemsing
John Reeves age 55 ag lab
Thomas do age 20
both born in county
Did Harriet have any other family that she might have been visiting?
xx Carol.

Thanks Carol, for the look-up. Yes Harriet did have other family. The John mentioned was her father and Thomas her brother. She had some sisters but I have not been able to find any marriages also other Reeves cousins. Her husband , John, seemed to be with his parents. She may have had a brother in Lewisham (not sure if he was there in 1841 though). Will have to look further afield.
Once again, many thanks

Hello Megg
carol & Heather kindly helped me out with the following for my family as I do not have access to 1841.
This looks like a possibility in 1841:
ref HO107 462-06 folio 6 page 6: Stansted
William Reeves age 60 ag lab
Sarah do age 55
William do age 25
Mary do age 30
Harriet do age 20
Amos do age 15 ag lab
Jesse do age 16 ag lab (age not clear)
Esther do age 12
Jane do age 10
James do age 7
all born in county
in 1851
HO107 1612 511 5
Stansted
Sarah Reaves head wid 68 Stansted
John son 41 Kenning
Just checked original census 1851, Johns birthplace is Kemsing.
xx Carol
Amos son 27 Stansted
Jesse?? son 25 Stansted
Esther dau 21 Stansted
I was following the Allen/Reeves family through the census as I thought Harriett Reeves was linked to my family as in 1841 no place of birth listed, but in 1851 birthplace listed and John Reeves/Reaves was born in Kemsing so not impossible for Harriett Reeves also to be born there.
She is not with the Reeves family in 1851, so could have got married (To John Allen?)
Here they are in 1851
Census in Plumstead Kent
Amos Allen 1833 Kensing, Kent Visitor
Harriett Allen 1820 Kensing, Kent, Wife
John Allen abt 1819 Brasted, Kent,
John F Allen abt 1841 Woolwich, Kent,
William G Allen abt 1844 Woolwich, Kent,
Charlotte Reeves abt 1839 Kensing, Kent, Visitor
Charlotte Reeves is a visitor and not listed as a relative (Although she could be)
The age for Harriett is about right according to the 1841 Census. Stansted is very close to kemsing in Kent.
The only problem here is that the marriage to John Allen seems to have occured in 1839 and of course that would mean that Harriett should be with here husband in 1841...but she appears not to be...so maybe this could be the right Harriett?
I have 2 entries I found in Parish regs that might explain it also
Harriet Reeves Baptised in 1819 Parents John and Charlotte in Kemsing
Harriett Reeves Baptised in 1821 Parents William & Sarah in Stansted
Indeed maybe there were 2 mine could be Stansted and yours could be Kemsing.
That would of course mean that John Allen would not be related to my line.
There is also a marriage I have just found that might be mine
Marriages Sep 1848
COLLINS John Bromley 5 79
Reeves Harriet
Dont know if any of this helps?

PS
I have a fair bit of info on the Reeves/Reaves family in this part of Kent particularly Kemsing, Sevenoaks, Seal and Stansted/Wrotham so if you need any info please let me know and I will do my best to help.

Hooray! Hooray! I found Harriet in the 1841 cencus on line. Right where she should be - with husband John and son John in Woolwich. Problem now is - have I been chasng the wrong John Allen? or was he listed wrongly at two addresses? ???

I am glad you have found John Allen in 1841.
I do not have access to 1841 at the moment and of course there cannot be 2 locations for the same John Allen. Its a common name so maybe one is wrong.
Are you able to give details of the two families in 1841? (As per your recent discovery)
Myself I would not imagine they would have 2 entries for the same person.
If John Jr was born in Woolwich in 1841 (As per the 1851 Census) then it would not be unexpected for John Sr to be in Woolwich at that time, so that sounds like a good bet to me.
Cheers

Hello Paul,
I can send you a scanned image if you would like it. Are you the same Paul who sent me a copy of Stephen Reeves marriage certificate with Harriet Allen as witness? If so I still have yor address.
