The Gilbertson branch of my family is said to have come from Burnley (via IOM). I have found the following in 'A Sketch of Burnley Seventy Years Ago' by James Grant December 6th, 1887
http://www.daleeccles.net/burnley_in_1818.htm
Mr. Gilbertson, stationer, occupied the premises under "the Blue Clock," ...
Is it possible to find out the names of the proprietor/s of this business? If I knew the first names of Mr Gilbertson the stationer I might be able to determine whether he belongs on my family tree.
Thank you

I do not have the information you need,
there doesnt seem to be a lot of Gilbertsons around in the years you are looking at,

Thank you. I haven't come across a Susannah, but we have more Thomases than we need. From earlier enquiries I had three children of a Walker Gilbertson and Margaret Coffey who were married in London in 1819:
Thomas 23/4/20 Burnley St Peters Parish Church, father printer and stationer
James 18/4/22 Burnley
William 23/1/24 Burnley
and the family turns up in London in the 1841 census with a few more children born in London in the interim. I thought that father, Walker, being in the printing and stationery business, might have had something to do with the stationer's shop. St Peters being common to Thomas and Susannah, and to the Thomas born 23/4/20 on my list suggests geographical proximity at least.
Never give up!

The will of the late Susanah Gilbertson, late of Burnley in the county of Lancashire,
spinster who died 29 th of March 1883 at Burnley was proved at Lancaster by Joseph Bray Gilbertson of 2 Starkie st Preston and William Gilbertson of 9 Whincley Street Preston solictor the nephews and executors

That's great, I have a note somewhere that the James born 1822 on my family tree was a cabinet maker so it's probably him. And for what it's worth IGI has a record of a Susannah.
Thank you very much.

Thanks Radcliff, that gives me a fair bit to be going on with. I really appreciate your help :)

I do hope it helps even if they are not your direct ancestors ,they are possibly ,
I think and quote only think they are the sons of William and Ellen Gilbertson,
druggist he dies Gooosnargh 1850,
but finding the connection through church records is proving difficult as I cant find marriages for Susanahs parents,
