Thanks for contacting me. We do have a connection on this line.
Mine are:
Robert Steadman 1641
Thomas Steadman 1671
Robert Steadman 1704
Wm Steadman 1737
Elizabeth Steadman 1772
Elizabeth Steadman married Joseph Peacock and their daughter Alice married my gggrandfather Robert Foulkes.
I have a Steadman family tree starting with Robert Steadman 1641, which was sent to me by Ivan Steadman who lives in Australia. All the information is taken from "A History of the Steadman Family of Soham" compiled by M.R.Allen. Have you had any contact with Ivan?
There was an Ellis Steadman born 28th March 1803 and he was buried 30th June 1803. Another Ellis died in 1875.

Thanks for prompt reply. I was in contact with Ivan a couple of years ago and he was extremely helpful.
The museum at Soham has a copy of the 2nd volume of the Steadmans by M R Allen, which carrys on the family lines from the first book. But, as the museum had no premises I only managed to have a quick read.
I have found Sohamroots a very interesting site.
My interest in Steadman started because I married into the family.
