Title: Lancashire Hussars
Post by: suentimb on Friday 04 May 12 16:03 BST (UK)
Hello all...
Just a quickie, does anyone have a relative who served with the Lancashire Hussars during the Great War. I ask because I am part of a group of cavalry living historians who represent 'D' Squadron Lancashire Hussars, we are putting together a 'mobile' museum showing the lives of a cavalry man in the 1914 period. Also part of this museum is a display of information about the men of 'D' Squadron, who they were, where they came from and what happened to them if they survived the war.
If anyone has any information that they feel might be useful please drop me a line at (*)

Anything at all would be most usefull...
Cheers
Tim Bickerdike

hi thought you may or may not be interested in this snippet about  Lancashire Hussars at Southport in 1850 10,000 attended a Military Parade if you Google William Penningon 1850 Southport it gives names and ranks of all Soldiers, they also Paraded in 1858.  my interest is he was from Woodhead Farm opposite my  G G Grandfathers Farm.   Cheers Martin.

Hi Monkhouse...
Thanks for the reply, very interesting and something to archive for later use. But it's the Great War period and just before that we are looking for ...
Cheers

Just got this site from Google for "Lancashire Hussars". My grandfather must have served with the Lancahire Hussars RHQ or "B" Squadron as his BWM & Victory medals were issued by them i.e. roll no. CY-103-B. He went to Egypt on 20th April 1915 with the Corps of Hussars. He was an Oxfordshire Hussars man pre-war and he joined them in April 1916.

Do you know what the Lancs Hussars did between Dec 1915 when they landed in Egypt and Mar 1916 when they went to France?
