found out becvause ancestry has arelationship to you section that the william hamilton idthe 24xge
greatgrandfather of the huband of the wife who is  2xgrt aunt muriel.
marcie dean and now 5 out of my 7 trees are coming together.
marcie dean. no direct line then ;just grt grans' sister married a james hamilton, and a mary craig married a hamilton and a agnes steele married a hamilton and a margaret anderson married a hamilton.so most of my branches became involved with hamiltons throughout the decades. got to take a look at mary or margaret craig to see what the relationship is with my 5x grt gran mary craig.maybe her grandmother or something?

Don't believe all the 'hints' on ancestry- quite often that supposed matches aren't even the person you are trying to trace. As with all resarch you need to checl and double-check original records, etc. rather than rely on websites and other people's research.

I have found 8 separate trees claiming my great grandfather as " theirs" . Trouble is, he is in Lancashire and they are in Yorkshire.  Whilst it is not impossible he could have been dashing back and forth and have two families, I really doubt it , the transport links between the two were very difficult in the 1850's ( and even now!)

I contacted the tree owners to ask why they thought he was their relative, only one replied and has now realised he is only a century out on his dates.....

i found a new site called stirnet .com full of interesting things but www.link that i can see perhaps one of the moderators would like to take a look and see what they think.

whatever is on the website is one thing, but it doesn't meet web accessibility standards!  :o
