Hallen is noted Ellen Ada on the 1903 and 1906 Electoral Rolls but Hallen in a newspaper report. Some of the newspaper reports are quite sad as Hallen stated that Frank had a 'paralytic stroke". Perhaps his lack of personal care and subsequent behaviour may have resulted from this. So sad.

If you like I could send snips of the Railways Employment register and passenger record. I would need an email address. I can't find Hallen in the shipping records.

Hello, I am in Western Australia and researching my Great Grandfather Frank Hamilton Philip Davies too. Uncle is also researching and receiving data from his cousin in Eastern Australia. Don't want to duplicate anything but eager to discover new information prior FHPDavies employment with Paddington Sation and info on Hallen Ada Davies (Wilson). Thankyou.

Hi :)
Welcome to rootschat :)
I guess you are seeking census information.
Frank's birth certificate would give you the names of his parents which would certainly make it easier to identify him in the census. His marriage certificate would give you information about his wife parents and make research easier.
He does not appear to use his name eg Frank H on the census.
Bit late for me as I live in Australia but I will have a look tomorrow if someone else doesn't find him on the 1881 and 1891 census.
Cheers

Cando, Thankyou very much for responding. My uncle is unfortunetly computer iliterate and I am assisting him in the search as it is so very hard to research this data unless online,I think. We have grand dad Frank Hamilton Philip Davies parents names but his father and his wifes father both died prior to the wedding, early 1890s? Both their mothers seem to just vanish. Tomorrow if I get time I will furnish those details as someone else may be interested too. I'm still a lost soul on the site,so sorry if I have mismanaged the way I have done / written things. Thanks,Kerrycottesloe

Kerrycottesloe - info on his parents would be good as frustratingly cannot find him on 1881 or 1891 census.

Hi,
Nice to meet a family member. Dorothy Maud Mary Hamilton Davies ( 1896-1982) was my Grandmother. I have found it very hard to track our ancestor's, this web site has been very help full. I am also a member of Ancestry and have corresponded with a family member living in Melbourne through that site. I also live in Perth......we might be able to help each other fill in some blank spots.....which sibling of Frank and Ellen (Hallen) are you related to? :)

Hello, I am eldest grand daughter of Frank Hamilton Davies 1898 / Ethel May Davies (Glover) 1910. Daughter of Marion Ada Hayes ( Davies) 1931. Niece of Hal Philip Davies. It is Uncle Hal who is researching through his cousin Philip in eastern states. So I am helping Hal who says we are all stuck on great grand dads parents. I am also doing the research on Greenfield and Glover families in Sth Australia. Just waiting for Hal to get back to me with some dates and names for ggdads parents and will post as soon as poss. Wow, this site is amazing, thankyou.

Thank you. I am sure we can help once we have those names. I have a couple of possible census entries but prefer to have Frank's parents' names.
It would appear that Frank had problems when he tried to enlist in WW1 - he was discharged

Addit. Therefore I am great grand daughter of Frank Hamilton Philip and Hallem (ellen) Davies too. His son Frank Hamilton brother to George et al. served in ww1 in France, was gassed. Grandad born in Leederville 1898 moved to Kalgoorlie as boy. Went to war at 16. His father Frank Hamilton Philip enlisted but discharged due to filthy habits dischargded. For those in Perth. Frank Hamilton Davies son of FhpDavies then married and lived in Mosman Park and there is a copper plaque on a remembrance wall overlooking the Mosman Bay river with all the original settlers of Mospark. The Davies plaque is on the wall with all the names of that family. As a point of interest Fhp Davies was as we know a railway worker as was fhdavies. fhpDavies was not right of mind as we see, but also he had suffered head injury.....trying to locate documentation for this, but had always been told work related. There was a terrible mix up of war veteran documents due to the names, we untangled them. Thats another story. Basically Fhp Davies never served , never went to war, ended up in Victoria, then returned to Perth, was in Sunset old mans home, died in Claremont Hospital, now Graylands. Hope this helps. Ok, more, Hallem (ellen) left Kal and went to Victoria and was housekeeper to clerygyman, I think A Bishop. Family alive at the time very tight lipped about ancestry. I have advised my uncle Hal to seek freedom information to view Fhp Davies medical records, maybe Battie Library, its a start?
-
Hello Cando, sorry for being rude, yes, I have read all and knew it all, except Fhp Davies employment in Paddington. They were rough days and the men were tough. Much was known but whispered about.
-
Hi Kerry,
The newspaper article's in the Trove upset me as I did not know any history on Grandma's family when she was a child. The cousin in Melbourne told me about Ellen or Hallen as she liked to be called going to Melbourne and working as a housekeeper for a Bishop.

I think many family history researchers find upsetting things about their ancestors however their descendants are not responsible for their behaviour.

Hello Annola, dont be upset about what you read. Remember your ancestors were great, proud people and you exist because of them. At least they werent boring and if they didnt do different things they wouldnt leave the lovely paper trail for us to seek them out! Thats what I think anyway. Hallems maiden name was Wilson. Nothing else as yet.

Thanks Kerry....Did you get my reply to your email you sent to me privately?....Annola.
