Title: Shipping records birth at sea
Post by: jenr on Monday 30 April 12 00:44 BST (UK)
I have some ancestors the WHITE family that went on the ship 'Great Britain' back to Liverpool in 1868. Apparently the mother Rebecca WHITE gave birth to daughter Mary while sailing back to Liverpool. Would there be records confirming that Mary WHITE  was born on the ship?
Thank you
Jenny from Bribie Island

The records for any birth at sea would be at the point of arrival IE Liverpool.

Hi

Births at sea on British ships are recorded in a seperate register held by the GRO. Findmypast has some indexes. The link below has more information.
