Hi all
I am used to tracing trees backwards but this time am looking forwards a bit and can't find any info apart from birth and death on this man. can anyone give me a clue as to where to start ? Born Sussex died Carmarthen
-
His birth reg is actually 1926
Births Sep 1/4 1926
Geoffrey C Burt, mother maiden name Carey, reg dist. E. Preston, vol 2b page 493
There are a few marriages for a Geoffrey Burt in England and Wales (none with the middle initial C) but none to distinguish your Geoffrey C.
-
I googled his name and Heir Hound are wanting to find his heirs.

Dec 1/4 1924 female
Sept 1/4 1929 male
Possible parents

Earlier birth of dau at Duckfield Dec 1914.

There are a number of trees on ancestry with Annie Carey and her marriage to Geoffrey's dad on them but no children recorded. I think they may be actually following the Carey line not the Burt line.
So we know where he came from but not whether he married and had children. Following the lines of his siblings may or may not give you the info you are wanting.
-
thank you, I had found the marriage and siblings, but can find no marriage or any other info, will have to work back from death certificate. Shame there is no census info.
Thanks for the help.

Hello!
Your Fredrick L sounds likes he's the brother of my Thomas Henry Burt (1884-1967). They would be brothers about 10 years apart if memory serves, born Marylebone to Charles BURT and his wife Sophia (nee HALL). That would make my mother the cousin of your Geoffrey. Please if you get this message do write me back.

Hi Jennifer
I was researching this man as there is unclaimed money left after his death you may be able to claim it if you are the nearest living relative.
You need to look up Bona Vacantia and find out how to claim

Sandra,
I hope you can find his children, or neices and nephews.
As far as I know none of my grandfather's family followed him to Canada.

I have been unable to trace anything but his name has been removed from the list of unclaimed estates so someone has claimed it. Sorry I can't help
-
No problem. I'd rather meet a relative than money any day.
You're a good person to put so much effort into it.
-
Me too a friend and I tried hard for a few weeks used our resources such as ancestry etc., I try and get family bibles from second hand shops and trace owners as well. I would like to have my families old records and I hope that others would to. If anything pops up I will let you know.
-
If anyone wants information about Geoffrey Charles Burt I am happy to help. I knew him for over 30 years.
-
HI as you can see from the thread I was seeking the man from the Bona Vacantia list, he left an unv=claimed estate but he is no longer on the list si=o i assume someone was traced.

Geoff's father Fredrick I think is the brother of my grandfather. Did Geoff ever mention any aunts (Florence, Louise, Jessie, Sophia, and one other whose name I forget) or an uncle (Thomas, Arthur and one other I can't remember name of)?
I would love to find members of my mother's family.
Thanks so much,

Unless he had an inheritance that he was unaware of, his estate would only be low hundreds of pounds, accrued while he was in hospital, so no great fortune I'm afraid. He never bothered to make a will because he had so little to leave.
I will contact other members of my family to see if they know anything about his family. I do know that he had brothers called Don and Jerry (Gerry) and a sister who possibly had some sort of mental illness at least in later life. Don married a Gladys but had no children as far as I'm aware. He died quite a few years before Geoff. Jerry had children I believe and there was some connection to the railways in the north of England. Will post more when I get more details. Hope the above helps.
