Martin was born in Ireland in 1836, and came out to NZ with his parents as his father became a Fencible soldier in Howick. Martin fought in the Land Wars and was granted land near Te Awamutu, Rangiaohia, where he met his wife.
They moved from this area, probably to a bigger farm in the ?king country and I havent been able to find them. Has anyone heard of this family?

Hi Lindemann
He was still in Rangiaohia when his mother died in 1881

Hmmmm,I am unsure of that death as it has the name Murphy for his mother.
Here is the marriage for a date to start with
1872/4482 Rewa Hairiui to Martin Casey

Hi, Yes, his mother's surname would have been Murphy by then as she remarried after the death of her first husband. i will try and locate the burial of Martin, thank you

Martin is buried at Omaka Cemetery, Blenheim, no Rewa buried with him.

No, I don't see anything for her either.
Just speculation, wonder if she is on the Maori E/R's?

Thanks for the information. We dont know whether they had family, is it possible to find out? What is the E/R? Thanks again

E/R = Electoral Roll.

I have just been in Newspapers Past and in 1878 there was a Martin Casey tendering for work at Spring Creek Road, Blenheim. Our Martin Casey would have been still in the North Island so I guess the Martin Casey in Blenheim is another one.
Thanks again,

There are about five Martin Casey's, but their ages at death are no where near the birth date of your Martin Casey. I stand to be corrected on that.
Wonder if there is a possibility they left the country?

I am the Great Niece of Martin Casey and Rewa Hairini. Martin was born in Templemore or Dublin in 1836/37 In 1863 he joined the 3rd Regiment of the Waikato Militia. In 1871 he married Rewa Hairini. there were no children. He is buried in Makaraka Cemetery, Gisborne.

I have a Martin Casey in my tree born in Templemore in Tipperary in 1832. Sadly he passed in 1860, so he can't be the same man. Given the size of Templemore, I imagine there is likely a family relationship deeper in our shared family trees
