Title: Another word for Servant???
Post by: x5girl on Saturday 28 April 12 12:12 BST (UK)
Have just come across an ancestor with the occupation listed as " Labouring Woman" ?
Could this be she was a servant or possibly mean she was a midwife?.
Any ideas anyone?

if it was a rural location, I would think that she was a farm worker/ agricultural labourer. Not a domestic servant as it would say so & definitely not a midwife. She was doing some sort of manual labour.

Thankyou for your reply.
She was indeed in a rural location,so as you suggest she was most probably a farm worker or similar.
