I am trying to find out more information about John FLANNIGAN who lived in the Belfast area, although I am not sure as to whether he was born there. He is probably born around mid 1810's. His occupation was "Custom House Officer". I don't know when John died.
He had one known son Joseph FLANNIGAN born about 1844 and who died 11/03/1900 by drowning in Abercorn Basin, Belfast.
I don't know the name of John's wife. Joseph's wife was Jane CAPE, who was previously married to Robert GYLE.

Hi, I unusually gave up in the street directories on www.lennonwylie.co.uk.,however searching the much harder way at Proni’s collection I found in the 1890 Belfast street directory see PRONI website
At 26 Fox street, Belfast is a Joseph Flannigan riveter
That occupation would include the Abercorn Basin etc . I would have thought a coroners report would have been made up.
there is a marriage for a joseph in 1883 with a john as father on Ulster Historical foundation's website ancestryireland
So over to others and your good self to widen the searches

thanks for your reply. That is my g. grandfather at 26 Fox St. He was there from 1887 to 1895/6. There is a coroners report that hit the papers that would seem that it was suicide. He was lodging with a Robert Steele at the time, he provided input to the hearing describing the demeanour of Joseph senior at the time prior to his death.
