hi
i am trying to look at the census for onllwyn for 1861/71 using ancestry
but i cant seem to find the village, have traveled there and it was a mining village with a chapel/ church if i remember, mygreat grandmother ann davies was born there in 1860, her farther was rees davies, but i am unable to look through the cencus because onllwyn doen,t come up,,
ann davies move to llywell and married 1879 william davies
does onllwyn come under some other name on the census

If you have Ann's marriage certificate what was her fathers occupation
this ref is for a Rees Davies Farmer with daughter ann 1861 piece 4082 folio 60 page 4 district Neath
If you are unable to view let me know and will give full info.
Really need more info Davies like Jones is a nightmare to track so more ifo the better.#

ann was married in llywell april 25 1879 she was 21 years of age her father rees davies was a labourer

Did Ann have a twin brother David?
The one Cardiff found is this.
1861Michaelstone Super Avon
she is age 10 months with father Rees and mother Mary brothers William,John,Rees,Edward,Jenkin and brother David age 10 months sister Mary
1871 Glyn Corwg
Ann age 10 is with mother Mary who a widow brothers Rees,Jenkin,David age 10 and Thomas there is a grandaughter Mary .

looking at the cencus pages, i use ancestry, i can click glamorgan, then neath and the i gives me several districs from 9 to 19 is onllwyn in one of these

yes i have marriage cert
i have done a lot of research on the davies of llywell tom evan wrote a book called roots and branches and gives the families of llywel its a lot of help,,
seems the name davies is just a challenge for any family history buff,
on the 1881 llywell census ann is down as lizzie ann age 23
william is down as 32 but is miss read job tailor
they have 2 children
maggie ann age 3
walter thomas age 7 months
they are in trecastle llywell breconshire

in 1901 ann is down as elizabeth ann davies living in brecon my grandmother was born in 1902
census page for 1901 Breconshire > St John the Evangelist > District 10 > 5

I only ask you these questions because you know who you are looking for..... so if we are able to see who its its helpful to have census or full marriage birth death info.
Do you know why she moved there? was it for work or did she move with the family because her father was lab, he could have worked on the farms.
It is proving difficult to track her down :-\

So Ann Davies has now become Lizzie or Elizabeth Davies
But on her marriage certificate no Elizabeth then? What about the births of her children is she plain aAnn or both names or just elizabeth ???

on my grandmothers birth cert she down as elizabeth ann davies formerly davies
she is not on the 1911 census so presume she may have died they had 17 children 7 had died by 1911

I looked at the 1911 census and william does not enter that he is Married or a widower :-\
Onwllyn comes under Neath registration district I feel sure about that ... I think it comes under Dylais or Dulais its the vally where Onwllyn was.
Ok will relook at Elizabeth Davies b <1860 >with a father called Rees Davies lab

they seem to do it differently
but were there now
onllwyn cottages
its a good match regards rumneywoodchipy
lived in llanrumney, cardiff for about a year, nice city now back in norfolk
it a long way to travel for the parish records,,
still found roots chat, and its great.

Yes ancestry does do it differently., but I thought I was right about the area Onwllyn being part of neath its a lovely valley.
