I have a John Winning died 7th February 1865 Ballykeel Ballyclug. Residence of informant Ballykeel. Where would he have been buried, and how would I get access to the grave records? I believe Ballykeel is near Larne and Ballyclug is near Ballymena. Registration District is Ballymena

No need to re-post. I'll move your topic to Antrim board now.
There is a Ballykeel near Ballymena.

Have a look at burial records here- the database includes details from 41 graveyards in Ballymena area, including Ballyclug. If you can't find what you are looking for there just let us know the information you've found so far and we'll try to help.

Hello kenco, I have the Gravestone Records here and unfortunately there is no Winning headstone listed in Ballyclug Old Graveyard. That is not to say that your relative is not buried there, just no headstone.

By the way, Ballykeel is in Ahoghill Parish, and there are three Winnings listed in Griffiths Valuation of Ireland (1861-62), two Johns and one William.
Winning John Ahoghill,(Carmacmoin) Ahoghill Antrim
Winning John Ahoghill,(Lismurnaghan) Ahoghill Antrim
Winning William Drumramer Ahoghill Antrim
Lismurnaghan and Ballykeel are quite close to the graveyard.

I am researching Winning in Northern Ireland any information would be appreciated. Especially any Peter or John Winning. I know that Peter is very rare and as far as I can find out there were only 2.
I have a Peter Winning born Kirkinriola abt 1835 who died 1896 aged 53 years. (Actualy he would have been 61)
His Father was a John Winning a plumber
Any graves or gravestone inscriptions would be helpful

There is a marriage for an Eliza in 1863 (Antrim), father Peter, on Ancestry Ireland.
Also on Ancestry there is a Hannah, born 1850, father John, Antrim on the same site.
This Eliza appears to have married a John McConkey and had at least two children, James, b. 1874 and David, b. 1878.
I have seen one birth of a Margaret Wynning (!) in Ahoghill on 5 Apr. 1872 to William Wynning and Margaret Agnew.
There were Winnings in Drummaul, Duneane and Cranfield Parishes, just North of Lough Neagh, but not many. Will have a further look.

Hi Kenco,
Jane Winning, from Slaght townland (sometimes spelt 'Slatt') in Connor parish, Co. Antrim , born 16 March 1839 and bap 23 June 1839 at Ballymena 3rd Presbyterian, to William Winning and Jane Richmond. I believe William Winning was a son of a Peter Winning.
There were quite a few Winnings in Slaght townland: a James Winning and Ellen Collins of 'Slatt' had Mary Winning in 1842; and a Jane Winning married a James 'Maxwell'/'Marshall'? about the same time and they had children also born in Slaght.
William Winning and his wife Jane Richmond migrated to Scotland from Co. Antrim and both died there. If you can trace William Winning's death (he died some time after 1861) in the Scottish records his death cert should - hopefully - tell you whose parents were.

I have several Winnings in Scotland if that is any help to you.

Thanks for the offer. I think I have every Winning in England,Scotland Ireland & Wales that were registered. I am trying to find my great great grand father John Winning I believe he came from Scotland. His father would have been Peter.
