If you know the names of any of their children you could check freebmd using their christian names and birthyears/birthplaces with a mothers maiden name of Saunders

sorry late replying
The family where my grand parents family who I lived with and brought me up. My grandfather died when I was 8 so all i can remember is that Tom died and my grandfathers sister rather soon after my grandfather. My grand also died within a few years and thats where anything to do with the family died also. There was no documents of my grandfathers that I can remember relating to his family left behind . I do know that they had a daughter who would be 60 -65 whos name I do remember but moved away after completing university and married.

Thank you

Can you tell me if this is correct as your reply is a little confusing?

Tom was your grandfather and he died when you were 8yrs old

Tom's sister died soon after him

Your grandmother died a few years later - was she Mair Saunders b 1919?

If Tom & Mair were your grandparents - that means that one of their children was your mother or father

sorry I must get to bed earlier, My Grandfather - Myddyr was Mair's brother - Tom(?)  was Mair's Husband. My Grandfather died 1st followed I believe by Mair and Tom

Thank you for your help would love to have this information. There isn't anyone I can ask as sadly all my close family pass away when I was young. I know the daughters of Mair and Tom's christian name but I don't know if I am allowed to post this. (Hopefully she may still alive and my only relation I have.)

Best wishes and thank you

I see yuor problem - I can see your grandfather's birth in 1917, but no death, nor a likely marriage for Mair near home or away (thinking it could have been a WWII marriage when stationed away from home)

If Myddyr Saunders was your grandfather who died when you were 8yrs old - what year would that be as there is no death registration for him

Hi Carole
Thank you for taking an interest in this my grandfather died in 1979 - Merthyr Tydfil B80A 8603B he lived all his married Life in Deri, Bargoed and Married Dulcie Saunders of Deri ,Bargoed. I Know that Tom ? and Mair had one Daughter Annwen. I believe that they are burried in Rhymney Cemetry but I have visted there numerous times to look at the records, but only managed to find my great grand parents John and Emily Saunders. I have been to the old house to find that it has been knocked down and the old cafe is now a kebab house.

That's useful as I've tracked the marriage down and I think your grandfather was listed as Melvyn

Not finding a birth for Annwen or similar, mother's maiden name Saunders

Dulcie was Dulcie Ann Carter b 1918 and he married as Melvyn Saunders in 1941

Freebmd has a possible birth in 1948 for their daughter but details cannot be published here

Hi Yes you are correct Duclie was my grand and my Grandfather was Myddyr - The person born in 1948 was my Mother Ann Saunders and died nearly 14 years ago.

Sorry this is why I am unable to ask anyone my mother didnt have siblings or myself.

Thank you Carole and Mabel for all your input

I wonder whether Mair's husband was nicknamed Tom?  have you seen the 1946 marriage on freebmd to surname Thompson
