Title: Coaley Parish Records - PALSER - Circa 1799
Post by: sospiri on Saturday 21 April 12 15:43 BST (UK)
Can anyone help with the christening/birth date of Maria PALSER circa 1799 at Coaley please?
Parents unknown, but by 1817 she had moved to Birmingham and married Joseph TUBB of London.
Many thanks,

Sospiri

Hi Victor,

Many thanks for checking for me. She was my great great grandmother, but seems destined to remain a mystery!

I wonder whether she could have been Hannah Maria? there is a baptism in 1805 at the Wesleyan Chapel in Dursley, Glos to parents Thomas & Ann Palser for a Hannah Maria Palser born on 22 Feb 1804 and baptised a year later on 28 Jan

Hmm.. maybe not as that would make her 13 if she married in 1817 ..

Hello Captain2,

I think I found that one on LDS, but discounted it for the same reason as you! Logically I would assume that she moved to Birmingham from her birthplace rather than London, the birthplace of her husband, but that doesn't help with her actual birthplace. Many thanks for the suggestion anyway.

I would mark this lookup request as closed if I knew how to!

Regards,

Sospiri

Click 'modify' and put 'closed' in your subject heading and then the moderator will see the post and move it for you.  I would be inclined to wait a short while tho' as this is a new post and you may get a bit more interest...  ;) There are a number of 'Palser' being baptised at the chapel in Dursley so the family is obviously prevalent in the area.  If there hadn't been two dates for Hannah Maria (birth & baptism) I may have been inclined towards her but there is a definate birthdate shown in the register as 1804.

Good luck with the rest of your research ..

Hello again Captain2,

Thanks for that - I will do as you suggest & leave it for a while. Yes, obviously a local name and something may show up in the area in due course.

Regards,

Sospiri

Hi

I am the 4x great grandson of Maria Palser and Joseph Tubbs. I always assumed that Maria's parents were Samuel Palsar and Phoebe Cossons, Samuel dying in 1852 in Gloucestershire

Thanks for that, sirsimon, looks like we could exchange some information on this line. Not sure how that works on this Rootschat though.

Ooh - not that I can be very much help, I'm afraid, but I'm pretty sure I'm another connection, descended from Patience's sister Sarah, who married John Garland from Thornbury.
