Title: Look Up for a Houghton Conquest Marriage certificate Please.
Post by: Janice123 on Thursday 19 April 12 20:34 BST (UK)
 Hello,
Is anyone able to see a copy of a marriage certificate from 23 October 1728 in Haughton Conquest please? The marriage was between John Dix and Elizabeth Markham and I would like to know if the marriage had any witnesses or says where the Bride and Groom were from. or anything else.
Much appreciated.  Jan

It's Houghton not Haughton

Pre 1754 there are no witnesses. All you usually get are the two names.

Oh well never mind, perhaps it might say WHERE the couple were from at least?
Thanks Jan

Hi Jan

i've got the fiche of the transcript for Houghton Conquest and i've just checked the entry.  Neither party is listed as being from elsewhere so you would usually take it they were living in the parish at the time.

 Hi Joy,
Thank you for your quick reply.  I know they were both in the Parish now. I have been trying to find out where a John Dix (married in Guilden Morden) was born and thought these two may be his Parents, I was half hoping one of them was from Guilden Morden in Cambridgeshire, but at least now I know that is not the case.
Thank you for clearing that up for me - Jan
