Title: Halls frm Kildrummy
Post by: Limal on Thursday 19 April 12 14:12 BST (UK)
Does anyone have any information on the Halls  from Newhills,Kildrummy? I have information back to Robert b.1792 and his wife  Helen Duncan from whom I am descended.
Robert's father appears to be Alexander Hall but there is no trace of a mother. I was told by a distant relative that Alexander's wife was Margaret Anderson and I believe she is on his death certificate, however I have no proof of that.
As the Hall family appear to have farmed there for many years, I assumed that I would easly trace Alexander's ancestors but so far no luck. By contrast, Robert's wife's family, Duncan and Lumsden go back some way in the Kildrummy area.
Thank you.

Confused as to the "Kildrummy" part of your post. Old parish records shows he was born in Wagley, Newhills, Aberdeenshire, and possible farmed in Whiteley, Auchindoir, Aberdeenshire, where both he and his wife died. Look for him in deaths in Scotland's People, 1863 at Auchindoir, Aberdeenshire. She died 1852 at the same address.

You're right, it was Newhills and he did farm at Clova. It was his wife, Helen who came from Kildrummy.
Yes I have his death as 16 Apr 1863 and his wife Helen as 30 Sep 1852. They are both buried at Essie.. However, as I said, on his death cert his parents are listed as Alexander Hall and Margaret Anderson whilst I can find no trace of the said Margaret Anderson having married his father, Alexander Hall. So really its them that I want to pursue.
Thank you for helping me.

Hello,

Unable to add anything further, but I take it you have Roberts 7 page will and 9 page inventory - both available at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk  ?

PS - There would appear to have been another person (unless it's yourself?), with an interest in this family - there is a tree forward from your couple on one of their 10 children  on Rootsweb at :

Steve,
Thank  you for your message.
In fact I have the details, but have not consulted the wills and inventories but shall do it on Monday.
I would still like to find "precise" evidence of the marriage of Alexander and Margaret and their respective parents.
The family tree is not mine!

It may be worth looking at the parish records for Newhills, 17/11/1805, an Alexander Hall was married there, but in SP, IGI or FR there is no mention of the wife's name.

Thanks for that advice.
I've never looked up Parish records before. Where do I find them?
