please can anyone do a 1871 scotland census look up, i have traced this family right to their deaths etc in london and i am sure these are my people.
strangely there is never a husband/father listed on any census or any occupations, but emma thompson has another 3 children after this, perhaps he is listed on the page before ?
caroline has somersetshire as birth, please double check, i would be so grateful

Sorry - no husband shown. I can only view a transcript but this states:
Emma Thompson 27 Agents wife b. Halifax, England
Kate Thompson 5 b. Halifax, England
Caroline Thompson 2 b. Somersetshire.

You can only view the original copy of Scottish Census on Scotlands People and need to buy credits to be able to view.

I think that the fact Emma's husband is an Agent would explain his absences from home.
He is most likely to be found as a lodger in the censuses if he's away due to work commitments.Do the locations his family were living in (& born in) give an indication to the type of agent he was? eg.Railway or Ship's Agent?

What was Emma's husband's name and her maiden name?
Struggling to find the family in 1881 so far - where were they by then?
Struggling to find a birth entry in Somerset 1869 +/- 5yrs for a Caroline Thompson (with wildcards for spellings). Have you been able to find relevant birth certs for the children?
