Hi trying to find information on the following person;
Matthew Stonehouse b 1865 Ontario
He married Anna Eva Snooden in 1892. She died in 1899. He then married Mary Fleming in 1902. I am after any census information and any children if he had any.
His Parents were Thomas Stonehouse and Mary Dundas. I am only after info on him and his wife's at this stage. I find it is easier to do one person at a time.
Many thanks

Hi,
I wonder why you can't open the link? I just clicked on it and it went right to the photo.
It is from the Richmond Hill Public Library. Perhaps you will have better luck getting to the photo going through the Library's site one step at a time...
Here is the Library's main site
http://www.rhpl.richmondhill.on.ca/RHPL/
In the bar at the top, select Interest Areas and pick Local History and Genealogy from the drop down menu.
From that page, go to the "Information" box at the right of the screen and choose Local History and Genealogy Databases.
On this webpage, select the second option (under the link to Ancestry) - "Combined Search for South York Region Local History".
This should take you to the search page for their local history collection - which includes cemeteries.
Type Stonehouse into the search box and you should see all of the names on the tombstone pop up. Just click on the number next to any one of the names to get to the image of the stone.
I hope this works for you...

Hi again,
Just in case that doesn't work either - the stone says:
Stonehouse
In Memory of
Mary Fleming
1856-1928
Beloved Wife Of
Matthew Stonehouse
1861-1939
Elizabeth V. daughter
1896-1941
I wonder when this stone was engraved? The birth year for Elizabeth seems to be slightly off (from the records found earlier on this thread) and I found a death record for Mary Fleming Stonehouse on the familysearch site that says she died in 1926.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JKW5-C8N
I don't have access to Ancestry to see the actual image of the death registration - there could be a mistranscription somewhere...
If the death date from the familysearch site is correct, you could request an obituary lookup from the Richmond Hill Public Library (from the link I posted earlier). I believe there is an "Ask A Librarian" feature on this site. You might ask for the same date in either 1926 or 1928???
Matthew's death year is too recent to be in the Ontario Deaths collection yet. Unfortunately, the stone doesn't give an exact date of death.

I can add some more information:
Walter Mathew Stonehouse 11 Oct 1895 - 20 Jun 1974 was married to Beryl Phyllis Sanvidge. Walter was Beryl's second husband. Beryl's first husband was Thomas Tudor 15 Aug 1905 - 13 Dec 1957.
I am looking for anyone connected to Beryl Sanvidge and her family, especially her parents. My father-in-law was brought up in a foster-care type home that was run by Beryl's mother, Mrs. Ellen Sanvidge (nee Price), in Regina, Saskatchewan in the 1930's & 40's.
I've located all the corresponding Census, etc for this family. Now I need to find someone who has information on how my father-in-law ended up in the Sanvidge home.
Thanks!
