So if Gabriel Hall  and Jane Hedley  have a son John, very possible, together and then Jane dies,1762,
and then Gabriel remarries Hannah, and they have a son Gabriel and for some horrible reason they both die it would explain why they are buried on the same day ,from the same abode ,does it not,but have different mothers names on the burial record,
but you will have to delve deeper to prove or disprove this theory,

 Trivia Angle.

"Tod" is an old name for fox. Hence Todholes / Todhills ? ( communities in the parishes of Elsdon and Haltwhistle.         M

hi guys thanks for the imput  i have the book of the elsdon parish records from 1672 to 1812.  Looks like a fox has had hold of it haha.  My interest in todholes/hills stems from research done by c-side.  Have been looking for birth of Allen Hall. unsuccessful.  He married Jane Boiston in 1788. From original marriage says he was of west todhill.  Hence why i started looking at Todholes but the  Halls seem to live on every farm and married other Halls.  both allen and one of the witnesses a matthew hall signed there names and c-side said the signitures were good enough to indicate that they were literate.  the naming of allens children led me to think that Gabriel Hall and Jane Hedley were his parents.  however without his birth just dont no which line to follow. Had not thought about Jane dying and Gabriel remarrying Thanks for that Carol

Yes quite a difficult one as the name Gabriel/Hall is quite prevalent in the area ,a visit to Woodhorn may be needed ,I was there on Wednesday and the staff are very helpfull,
my little snippets are not in fact proof of any thing ,

I am sure you will have this ,but as I am not from Northumberland I am not sure of its distance from Elsdon,

June 3rd 1796
Elsdon,
Robert son of Allen and Jane Hall
of Ralphshields
parish of Hartburn
so possibly Allen and Jane married there

Still plodding on trying to find a birth (1750-1770) or even a death for my Allen Hall  Now that its getting colder no more trawling round churchyards or taking photos of farms where he had been a shepherd.  May get another trip to Woodhorn without getting lost this time weather dependent.  Hope all on here are well.  :)
