Source: http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/script/veteran_certificate.asp?VeteranID=725386

He is son of my grandfather's brother, William Ingram of Scotland 1872-1911 and of Elizabeth May Ingram (nee Champion) of England. He was born in Bangalore, India while his father was stationed there. He is in Cambuslang, Scotland in 1911 census with paternal grandparents, his widowed mother, and 2 siblings,  ARTHUR CHARLES INGRAM, b 1906 & Annie b 1909.
The next evidence of William jr  is his Australian service record. His mother remarried George William Rowan in Brookton, West Australia. His brother was in Brookton, too. I'd like information on any of them.

Here is the marriage of William George and Florence in Sth Aust.

Grooms father:  George INGRAM
Brides father:  George Theodor KOOP

Hope that helps a little,

Hi,

You could email the National Archives of Australia and find out the costs etc of getting a copy of William George Ingram's WW2 records, I have done this in the past.

Dear rosball, deeiluka, SASHAR, and cando!
You've really helped me out, and I thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
At the end of last week, all I knew was that my granddad's brother had passed away of a fever somewhere near the Cape, enroute from India, and that after the 1911 census I had no idea what happened to his wife and children.
This is amazing. I'd sure like to discover more details. How sad that William and Florence lost their boys. i hope some children lived.
Wonder what William was doing in Western Flat. And do you think there were 2 Arthur Charles Ingrams, one in WA and one in NT? Or since 1943 is while he is in the service, might he have registered himself while stationed in NT? Still the carpenter thing is odd, unless that is what the army had him doing.

Perhaps his service file will help answer your questions.

For a small fee you could purchase the Funeral Application form for Arthur's funeral.

It would appear that Elizabeth May INGRAM did not marry Geo Wm ROWAN.

Hmmmm It would help to find emigration/immigration to find
When did Elizabeth and the boys go to Australia?
Did they have the girl Annie Champion Ingram with them?
Were they in the company of GW Rowan?
Was Elizabeth a Rowan?

The AKA Ingram is in keeping with Scottish law and custom, even if she had not had children named Ingram, she'd be listed as both.  Another cousin who died in Perth, although they had no children at all, was (death) registered as both her maiden and married surname.

What I would find more curious is that Elizabeth May seems to have completely shed her maiden name of Champion. I had heard (it was just presumed?) that after the 1911 census, she went with the children to live with her family in England.  Wonder if there is any truth to that?
Australia is/was the land of new beginnings, right?
The other son was in SA, so I wonder which area they first went... or even if they went together.
It is truly said that one answer only leads to many more questions.
Onward....

Hi, my name is Kel (Kelvin) Turner. I am originally from Brookton WA. I am writing as I knew Arthur Charles Ingram personally. He was the grandfather that I never had. The reason I am writing is I have many of his and the families personal items. Such as his war medals, his fathers medals, his mothers midwifery papers just to mention a few. If I can be of any help please do not hesitate to ask. Arthur always said all his family where deceased. So hence the reason I have much of his personal effects.

Hi Carolyn, I am only 49 and live in New South Wales. I have just returned from WA following my fathers passing. I never new Arthur's mother or MR Rowan. My father and Arthur where mates for years. My father organized his funeral. Arthur lived with us for a time. In his later years He stayed quite often. He always called me Ned after Ned Kelly. When He passed he left all his belongings to my Dad and my self. I still have his 1950 morris truck that he used to carry goods to his store at Kweda. I could write a book on him as he was always part of our family from the day I was born. We looked after him in latter years. He died from a cancer in his throat. He was a gifted Man in almost anything he did.His carpentry skills where second to none. He did have a temper though, you kept away if that ever surfaced. Lol. As a child he taught me so much. He left his mark on me which will be there until I die. I have many of his war trophies that he gave me before his death. My email is (*) I am more than happy to assist you in any way. Please tell me how you are related. Best Regards Kel Turner
