Does anyone have any old pictures of Coppice Street in Tipton that they might share with me please? I have many ancestors who used to live in Coppice Street & I would love to see what the street looked like to imagine what they saw all around them.
Thank you.

My gt grandmother Sarah Ann Latham (nee Gwinnurth) was a char woman in 1901 at 14 The Coppice Tipton. Would this be the same as your Coppice.?

Hello, I was referring to Coppice Street in Tipton which was a street that ran off Owen Street. I had many ancestors who lived in various houses along Coppice Street.
You mentioned that your great gran was a char woman at The Coppice in Tipton ~ I wonder, are you referring to it being the name of a pub? I don't know the area myself so don't know the pub names I'm afraid.

I have just checked out The Coppice, Tipton on google maps & it's not the same place at all. The Coppice is a close running off Bagnall Street in Tipton.

Hi Treefan
A bit behind the times I know, but I was wondering if you ever managed to obtain a photo of Coppice Street, Tipton ?
-
I did manage to track down a picture but it isn't of very good quality so looks quite blurry.

I too have ancestors who lived in Coppice Street and in the surrounding streets and have managed to track down just one photo of Coppice Street taken in the 1970's after the demolition of most of the street, so would be interested in seeing your photo.
This link shows Coppice street and some of the surrounding streets, if it doesn't work for you let me know. edition.pagesuite-professional.co.uk/launch.aspx?&eid=9aa29464-6e71-48db-a412-9de844557ee8&pnum=17&from=search
Here also is a screen grab of Coppice Street taken from Google Maps, amazingly one of the three storey houses had escaped the bulldozer at the time Google did its street view.

That's great!! Thank you so very much.
Here is the picture that I was able to track down ~ it's of Coppice Street in the mid 1930's

That is a great photo despite the fact that it not very sharp, it was probably copied from a newspaper or magazine.
A stroke of luck that the photo in all three instances was taken from more or less the same spot. I wonder why the top half of the street where it meets with Furnance Parade/Brick Kiln Street was never photpgraphed ?
What were the names of your ancestors and when did they live in that area ?

I love to see old pictures of where my ancestors lived.
I had many Ward ancestors who lived in & around Coppice Street.
