Hi everyone
I dont know when André louis françois Gord was born but I am looking for a marriage in france between André louis françois Gord and Marguerite-Henriette Pfisterer. They had a son named Louis François Désiré Gord and I would love to know when he has was born too.
Thank you

You need to give at least approximate dates, and ideally a location in France as there are no national indexes.
Broadly speaking, if they were born in the 1700s you're looking at church records, in the 1800s you're looking at civil records, and if they were married much into the 1900s then the records are unlikely to be available except via writing to the location in question directly. (Latest date on a lot of French archive sites is about 1902).

Your right, sorry about that. Well I think the marriage between andre and the pfisterer lady happened in 1864 but need more details and such. Not sure what else to give you as I dont know much myself. It was definately 1800's. At somepoint it also said Paris as the registery place for the marriage

Paris archives:
http://canadp-archivesenligne.paris.fr
"État civil" are the civil records (bmd).
Paris has 20 arrondissements and you have to check the indexes (tables décennales) for each before looking at the actual records (registres d’actes).
This is a list of words commonly found in French genealogical records:
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/search/RG/guide/WLFrench.asp
The marriage took place 17 November 1864, in the 2nd arrondissement (2e).
Andre Louis François Gord, born Denneville (Manche), 26 Jan 1826, occupation "limonadier", resident in Paris at 40 rue Pagerin, major son of Andre Gabriel Gord, who died at Denneville 12 October 1854, and Anne Marie Marguerite Le Maitre, widow, aged 70, resident Denneville.
and
Marguerite Henriette Pfisterer, born Cornaux, Switzerland, 21 December 1825, resident in Paris (same address), major daughter of Jean Frederic Pfisterer, aged 60, and his wife Julie Adelaide Chollet, aged 58, living in Cornaux.
By this marriage, their son, Louis Francois Desire, born 26 November 1855 (12e, I think), was made legitimate.

Wow thats great! a bit confusing trying to work out how to use that website myself though haha
Any chance you could find more details on Marguerite-Henriette Pfisterer in france? Also, any children her son had?
-
Because they could have moved through different areas it will be quite time-consuming to search but you can check all the indexes for possible Gord/Pfisterer family members. Note: death records for women may be under their maiden name.
On the front page click:
» Consulter l'état civil de Paris
Then:
» accédez aux tables décennales
to look at the indexes: the fields are type (birth/marriage/death), year range, Arrondissement, and surname.
» accédez aux registres d’actes
if you know the date/arrondissement and want to see the original.
The fields are type of act, arrondissement, and date.
However, because of the level of detail on French certificates, you can sometimes narrow things down with a little later
I had a look at: http://www.geopatronyme.com and from 1891 to 1915 as well as Paris there were some Gord births registered in Saint Denis, nearby.
http://archives.ville-saint-denis.fr/ - the municipal archives are online.
(left hand side: etat civil is the link you want).
children of Louis Francois Desire Gord and his wife Marie Isabelle Victorine Coesme
2 Nov 1886 Emile August Leon Gord
1 May 1890 Marie Leonie Gord
23 March 1892 Louise Constance Gord
(there are also marginal notes for the girls so you should look at the originals).
They married 26 September 1885. Louis' parents are given are Andre Louis Francois Gord, deceased in Paris, 10th Arrondissement (I think), 1872, and Marguerite Henriette Pfisterer, his widow, aged 61, living in London, England (!).
Checking the indexes for 10e, Andre did die in Paris 10 May 1872 (listed as Louis Andre), and also on 19th August 1871, there is the death of a six year old boy, Etienne August Gord, son of Andre and Marguerite-Henriette.

where would I find the date on a marriage document on this site you gave me? http://archives.ville-saint-denis.fr/
-
also, im looking for a record in Saint Denis but theres a note on that site you gave me, can you translate please? What does
"A noter :
A Saint-Denis, des tables ont été reconstituées au XIXe siècle pour les actes antérieurs à 1792. Elles incluent l’ensemble des paroisses et des établissements de Saint-Denis."
mean?
And even when I try looking for the record, it comes up with nothing, she died on the 10th dec 1900, registered death as Marguerite-Henriette Pfisterer
thank you

This is great information - Margueritte-Henriette Pfisterer was a witness at the marriage of Julia Pfisterer and Robert Elcock in London, 25th Jan 1849.
-
Have U got their marriage certificate Crissy?
-
Yes, I have the Julia and Robert Elcock Cert - it's attached to tree on Ancestry.
-
Just a thought, though - unsure whether witness is this same Margueritte-Henriette - it could be her father's sister b1803. No evidence yet.

Not quite sure what marriage date you're looking for:
http://canadp-archivesenligne.paris.fr are the archives for marriages in Paris - within the 20 arrondissements (following the instructions given earlier)
http://archives.ville-saint-denis.fr/ are archives only for Saint Denis : click "etat civil" and then choose tables décennales, mariages, and a date range to check the indexes, or registre d'état civil instead of tables décennales to see the originals.
The bit you quoted from the Saint Denis archives just says that they've indexed records before 1792 (e.g. normally the tables are only for the civil records and parish records aren't indexed), and these records cover all parishes/establishments (e.g. hospitals).
If the family ever lived in other locations like Saint Denis that are close to Paris but not technically part of it as far as the archives are concerned, you'd have to check whether there were municipal/departmental archives which have records online for that area.
