We have just got the death certificate for Thomas Mee who died 1886.. Trouble is the info that is on it..
I know it is the correct one as it lists Ellen Mee, widow, to be present at death. The place of death is at home, 8, Soudan Terrace, Wilford.
NOW COMES THE MYSTERY.
On this official certificate it states that he died at 8, Soudan Terrace on 15th June 1886. The cause of death is 'Pneumonia, one week, certified by Mr Hunter M.B.' but the death was NOT registered until the 17th December 1886
Can any of you think of any reason this death would not be registered until DEC when he died in June???

There are actually 2 on Free BMD both Basford
Thomas Mee Jun 1886 7b/129 aged 40
Thomas Mee Dec 1886 7b/133 aged 40
Same man?? Not a clue you would need to send for the other certificate...

Hi,
I have no knowledge of such things, but may it have been to do with an inquest for some reason?
Best wishes,

The only reason I can think of his death was originally registered in the wrong place and the error was later corrected
