I have been doing FH for many years... I have now got back to a marriage in 1733.. I have the husbands and wifes name and that is all listed in the parish records.. I think the man has gone to the wife parish to get married.. so how do I find out his birth and where he came from... he would have been born around 1713... the family have tended to live in and around warwickshire.. so any ideas where I go from here. I have checked the parish where they got married and nothing is showing up with this name John Hadley
any help would be appreciated Annette x

It's down to brute force now, I think. Use Genuki to establish neighbouring parishes and where their records are held; try each parish for the relevant period; if nothing found try the next neighbouring parishes....
If you do find a likely candidate you'll find proving that this is the right person difficult unless you are lucky with other info or with unusual surname and Christian name.....

Which area of Warwickshire do you think he came from? There appear to be a number of John Hadley names around 1700 - is he the one who married Sarah ( I wish I could read her surname) in Sutton on 30 September 1733?

What about their children's birth / baptism place? Although he may have gone to her parish for the marriage, they may have returned (or returned eventually) to his home.

Yes it is the JOhn Hadley married to Sarah Spitor on 30th Sept 1733 in Sutton... which I have a feeling is her parish... all their children which were 6 issues I have traced and all born in Honington warwickshire.. gone back to 1698 and cant find him in that parish or the parish of sutton.
thanks for all your ideas xx

Could Honington have changed its name between the earliest Child birth and your John's. Have you found any John H?dley, anywhere?

Hi Annette
Welcome to Rootschat :D
Given the closesness to the county border it would be worth considering Oxfordshire for his place of birth.
