Hello! I am looking for Sarah (Cartledge) Cook. I can find her from birth to 1881, but what happened to her after that, I don't know. ???
b. about 1848 Riddings, Derbs
'51 Alfreton
'61 Alfreton
'66 Marries Harry Cook
'71 Alfreton, Widowed
'81 Alfreton, Widowed, Housekeeper's(?) Assistant
In '81, her dad (James Cartledge) is running a pub. (That's where she is at the time of the census.) Could she have been working for him? Housekeeper's Assistant doesn't jive with what I have seen as far as pub jobs, so it doesn't seem likely, but maybe ???
I would love to know what happened to her after '81, but I can't find her on any census after that.
Can anyone help find her in '91?
Thanks! :)

Hi only because there is a Thomas Cook in the household aged 21 could she possibly be the Sarah Thorpe with husband Thomas on RG12/2757/80/3?
Clutching at straws!

She would most possibly be working for her Dad - as Housekeeper and assistant - which probably meant general dogsbody - she probably kept house for them and assisted in the pub
The pub is in Leabrooks - not Alfreton
What children did she have ? I know there is Lydia and Harry - can't find harry in 1871 - he is with mum 1881 and then with Uncle in 1891
Lydia has married by 1891 -William Christian King- and she is living with husband and children.
Sarah is a mystery in 1891

Thanks, kb86 and Suz.
IIRC, she had two step-children via her marriage to Cook and they had two of their own before he bit the dust. I *think* she was preg with second child when he died. I'm fairly sure that Harry and Lydia are hers by Cook.

Flabnabbit! I searched FamilySearch and came up with nothing!
Thank you! :)
I like knowing that she likely remarried. (assuming that's her)
