Title: Emma Freeth
Post by: obhgis on Friday 30 March 12 07:05 BST (UK)
Joseph Freeth and Jane Clayton had children George, Emma, eliza, Caroline, Elizabeth, Harriet, Joseph and Edwin. All were born in Birmingham Warwickshire.
I'm searching for the marriage of their daughter Emma. but there appears to be several marriage records for an Emma Freeth in Birmingham, there are also 2 Emma Freeth's born 1 year apart in Birmingham.
I found on familysearch that The right birthdate for my Emma is 18 Oct 1837 and baptism 30 Apr 1838 at St Philips Birmingham. But can not find which is correct marriage . Can someone look up records there in the UK as I am in Canada.

A public tree on Ancestry (seems to be well sourced?) has Emma marrying Owen Wright.
25 October 1858, St James, Handsworth.

Obviously you will need to verify this information yourself, but it's a clue!! ;D

I don't think that is the right one as there is another Emma Freeth born in West Bromwich the area that this wedding took place.

5 public trees on ancestry have an Emma Freeth with parents Joseph Freeth and Jane Clayton, only one has her married to Owen Wright. The only sources appear to be censuses and freeBMD.

Looking at the other Emmas from birth to marriage & census the only one who consistantly says she's from B'ham is the one married to Owen Wright (even then in 1861 she says she's from Lichfield). The others are variously from Selly Oak Worcs.Tipton Staffs. or Leicester. If you can't get a lookup I think you will need her marriage cert.

At the time Handsworth was in Staffs. & the Reg.Dist. was West Brom.Transferred to B'ham around 1913.Not in the centre of B'ham but a suburb.
