I have just got the 1845 registery entry for my relative Thomas Baylis and on the same page are 3 other Maryport men;-
William SHARP born 1820, Joseph CONOCRIE (I think) born 1818 and Robert KERR born 1814 in Berwick. They all resided in Maryport in 1845.
If anyone wants more info please let me know. Humphpaul

Dear John57 sharp.
Its document BT 113/26 seamans registrations 1845.
His ticket number is 50703, issued 27/12/1844. Name William Sharp born Maryport 22/11/1820. Capacity - seaman, height 5ft. 8 and 3/4in. Hair and eyes brown, complexion fresh, marks - none.
First went to sea as apprentice in 1835, can write.
No royal navy service, no foreign service, resides at Maryport when unemployed.
There are 4 voyages recorded but these need decoding and also an entry saying "Cancelled and what MIGHT read " lost on board" but it's hard to read.
I could send you a photo copy if you want to contact me by email. willialan@tiscali.co.uk I don't think I am allowed to copy the entry via Roots although if anyone knows differently I would be glad to. Cheers Humphpaul
