Title: Trade directories - beerhouses in Preston
Post by: brendabill on Wednesday 28 March 12 23:01 BST (UK)
My great grandfather Robert Brown was a Publican.  The address I have is 238 & 240 Fylde Road, Preston.  I have looked on the map and it does not seem to exist anymore.  This was between 1901 and 1911.  I would be grateful for any information you may have.
Many thanks
Brenda SA

It was The Grove Inn and I'm afraid it isn't there anymore the area was redeveloped however he's listed as being the publican from 1910-1913 check out this link it also has a picture of the pub http://3.bp.bl

According to www.historicaldirectories.org, by 1917 the occupant of the "Grove Hotel" was "R. Cowgill".

The Tramways Waiting Room was next door at 242. I wonder how many passengers missed their tram while having a "swift half"?
