IS there anyone able to sight the parish record for the banns/marriage of James NEWBOLD and Jane CHAMBERLAIN, 14 May 1787 at St Martin, Birmingham, England?
I am particularly interested if their is any mention of the parents or who the witnesses were.
Both James and Jane were actually from Leicestershire, so I am not sure why they married in Warwickshire.
TIA
Dave

Hi Dave.
Found the marriage you're after but it's a different date 14.5.1797.
James Newbold bach of this parish and Jane Chamberlain spinster of this parish were married by banns.James signed and Jane made her mark.
Witnesses Joseph and Mary Cropson or Crosson made their marks.
No parents I'm afraid.

Hi
Fathers names were not shown on marriage entries prior to 1.7.1837 - mothers names are never shown on English marriage certs

Hello,
James Newbold and Jane Chamberlain are my ancestors. I have a reference that proves this connection to me in the form of their grandson's diary. I believe that they lived in Barlestone Lodge in Leicestershire.
I have James' parents listed as Richard Newbold and Mary, of Packington in Leicestershire. I have Jane's parents as Thomas Chamberlain and Sarah Betridge of Swepstone, Leicestershire. However, I am not 100% certain of these connections.
I would be very happy to be in touch about the Newbold family to see where you fit in!
Thanks,
Sean Halpin
