Post by: Demigoddess on Tuesday 17 May 05 10:29 BST (UK)
Could somebody please do a Dorset 1851 lookup for me?  I am searching for the Crumpler family in East Stoke, Dorset.

Thomas Crumpler     Head
Elizabeth                  Wife
John
James                         ?

Thank you

Ruth

Hi Ruth,

From a very blurry image:

Thomas Crumpler     Head          Mar   36       Poultry dealer               Very blurry - might be Portsmouth ???
Elizabeth                  Wife           Mar   29                                             Dorset - Stoke
John                         Son                     4                                               Dorset - Stoke
James                      Son?                    1                                               Dorset - Stoke

Hi Ruth,

Welcome to RootsChat !!

I thought CRUMPLER  would be an uncommon name so I looked it up on the Dorset OPC site www.dorset-opc.com and there were loads of 'em !!

Worth taking a look to see if there are any of yours there !

I got excited at this one, but on reflection, he's 10 years too young to be your Thomas:

East Stoke  1841 CENSUS HO107/279
Location;  ;  CHRISTIAN NAME; SURNAME; SEX; AGE; OCCUPATION; Born in County; Reference
Stokeford;    ;    William;    CLAPCOTT;    M;    30;    Cattle Dealer;    Yes;    F8/p13
;    ;    Mary Ann;    CLAPCOTT;    F;    30;    ;    Yes;    F8/p13
;    ;    James;    CLAPCOTT;    M;    8;    ;    Yes;    F8/p13
;    ;    William;    CLAPCOTT;    M;    4;    ;    Yes;    F8/p13
;    ;    Martha;    CLAPCOTT;    F;    5;    ;    Yes;    F8/p13
;    ;    Thomas;    CRUMPLER;    M;    15;    M.S.;    Yes;    F8/p13

M.S. could be male servant

Good luck,
Bob
