Hello Iam looking for information on
Robert Kimber s/o John Kimber occp. a Baker whom married Susan Stutely on 12 Feb 1841 at St Dunstains and All Saints, Stepney
Susan born c1821? was bapt 25/1/1829 at Queenborough, Kent and is the daughter of Joseph and Charlotte Stutely a Stonemason (Joseph and Charlotte came to South Australia in 1840)
I would if possible to see if Robert and Susan Kimber appear on any of the UK census. I did find a death (Freebdm) of a Susan Kimber in Oct 1843 at St Saviour, Southwark, but not sure if this is her?.
Many thanks for your help

This Susan born 1800, so a lot earlier than the date of birth you gave. The dau Emma now has a different surname although unmarried, so was Susan married previously?

Parish Registers
Baptism of Emma Susanna Stutely
Born 27 July 1830
Baptised 8 Aug 1830
Father Joseph Stutely Mason
Mother Charlotte Stutely
Parish or Poor Law Union St Andrew Holborn
City of London
So if this is your Susan/annah then she may go by the name of Emma in the census? Oh but you say your Susan/annah was baptised in Kent in 1829 to parents of the same name?
Hang on a minute - if she was born 1830 then she would have been 11 years old when she married Robert in 1841. Have i lost the plot? :)

So this is the bapt you have. I will have to take a look at all this again
Susanna Stutely
Baptised 25 Jan 1829 at Queenborough, Kent, England
Father Joseph Andrew Stutely
Mother Charlotta Stutely
-
Parish Registers
Baptism of Sarah Ann Stutely
Born 10 Dec 1825
Baptised 1 Jan 1826
Father Joseph Andrew Stutely
Mother Charlotte Ann Stutely
Parish or Poor Law Union of St Andrew Holborn London
The father's second name for Sarah matches that on the baptism of Susannah in the Kent register. occupation the same for Joseph.

Whew, been looking at this all ways up.
The witnesses for the marriage of Robert and Susan were John Sutely and Louisa, his wife, nee Leigh. Unfortunately their marriage in 1825 doesn't give any parents names!
According to the 1841 census living Stepney London a mason HO107/713 book 10 folio 25 page 10
1851 HO107/1554/641/8 John born Shepney Kent and a master mason employing 4 men.
Hasn't helped with sorting out the actual birth date of Susannah Stutely bpt 1829 in Kent.

I dont think the marriage in 1841 to Robert Kimber is my relative possible too young at this stage to have married him, because she was bapt in 1829.
Susanna/susan was born first and she has a sister
Emma Susanna born next in 1830
which has lead me to now believe that perhaps Susanna may also have died pre 1830?

There are quite a few trees for the Sutely family in South Australia on ancestry.com.
There is conflicting dates of birth for Joseph Francis and John Henry and Emma Susannah.
On Trove newspapers there is Sarah Ann and her younger sister Emma appear as witnesses in a criminal case in 1844.

Do you have the record of them arriving in 1840 on the ship Royal Admiral?

I am also beginning to think that Susanna bpt 1829 died prior to Emma Susanna's birth in 1830.
Her baptism date is not really an indication of her birth date.
I can't find a burial record for Susanna so can't verify her death.
Also in need of verification is the marriage of Joseph and Charlotte and the birth of their first child Joseph.
Unfortunately I can't find records for these events so have some to a screaming halt. :)

Hi I may be able to shed some light on Susan Stutely who married Robert Kimber in 1841. She was born 1801, father Joseph Stutely. She had previously married Charles Brissenden in 1832 and had a daughter Emma Brissenden born 1833 in Sheerness, Sheppey. Robert and Susan (baker in Sheerness High Street) had Susan Kimber in 1841 and Sarah Kimber in 1843. Susan Kimber married Atrchibald Forster in 1861. Robert Kimber died Sheerness in 1861 and Susan Kimber (nee Stutely) died in Sheerness in 1866.
I therefore don't think this Susan Stutely is the one baptised in Queenborough in 1829. She may have been daughter of one of Susan's sibling's? When I have time I will try and check the parish registers and 1841 census which I hold.
Hope this helps clarify a bit. Nick Kimber
