Title: Vevay, Switzerland
Post by: sandiego04 on Monday 26 March 12 06:06 BST (UK)
Hello, I have an ancestor who died in Vevay, Switzerland in 1870.  I have the exact date, how can I find out if there is a newspaper obituary in a Swiss newspaper. (then someone to translate if it is in Swiss ;)  Many,  many thanks!

f you're very lucky, you might find something in this online newspaper archive, but it doesn't cover all the possibilities:

http://www.letempsarchives.ch

Vevey is in the canton of Vaud, and the cantonal archives are at Lausanne: http://www.patrimoine.vd.ch/fr/archives-cantonales/accueil/ - I had a quick look, but didn't find anything obvious about which (if any) newspapers they might have archived there.

Local newspapers for Vevey will be in French.
