Hello
I am trying to find some information regarding Adolphus Frederick Slade born circa 1805 in Battersea London and his parents, also his wife Charlotte Amelia Hulme and her parents, they were my great great great grandparents. Their son Sidney Herbert born circa 1855 in Kent was my great great grandfather, Sidney immigrated to Australia (where I live) and married twice, his son Walter Edgar from his first marriage being my great grandfather. I don't know if I am on the right track as some of the dates I have don't seem to match. Walter's daughter was my grandmother Ida Caroline Victoria Slade, she died in 1986 in South Australia.
Thanking anyone that can help me.

He is also with an Ellen..... could they be his sisters??
ADDED.... Baptism Records show an Ann and an Ellen to Henry and Ann Catherine SLADE at about the right time to match those on the 1841 with Adolphus....

from The Advertiser South Australia Wednesday 21 October 1903
CONJUGAL TROUBLES.
In the District Court today Nellie Francis Slade proceeded against her husband, Walter Slade, stock broker, on a charge of intending to desert her and leave her without adequate means of support. The defendant, who was formerly a well known member of the Stock Exchange, was arrested on a warrant last night. Mr. Strong, for the complainant, stated that the parties were married in 1890, and after living for some time together they had separated, and by deed the defendant agreed to pay his wife 30 shillings weekly. The defendant had got into arrears. He had now tendered £24, but did not do this until he knew proceedings were to be taken. The defendant had sold his seat on the Stock Exchange. His brother had arrived from India, and there was reason to believe that the defendant was about to proceed there with him. The complainant was a barmaid, earning her own living. The complainant, sobbing, said that the cause of the separation was that the defendant was keeping another woman. The defendant said he sold his seat in the Stock Exchange for £500, but his debts absorbed nearly all that money. He had thought of going to Western Australia, but had so far made no arrangements to leave the State. He expected a small sum of money from England. The bench declined to make an order and dismissed the case.
I wonder which brother went to India/

Their son Sidney Herbert born circa 1855 in Kent was my great great grandfather, Sidney immigrated to Australia (where I live) and married twice, his son Walter Edgar from his first marriage being my great grandfather. I don't know if I am on the right track as some of the dates I have don't seem to match. Walter's daughter was my grandmother Ida Caroline Victoria Slade, she died in 1986 in South Australia.
I had gotten Walter Edgar's information as part of a GEDCOM from a cousin while researching the family tree of Sir John Slade, First Baronet Slade. Walter's profile (http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Slade-1056) is on Wikitree.

I should also note that Sidney's brother Walter Slade (http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Slade-818) was Chairman of the Melbourne Stock Exchange in the 1890s.

Hello Greg
Thanks for the information. I have over the past couple of years researched the Slade family and been to Victoria to Yarram and Welshpool where Sidney and Isabella Slade lived. Also have a copy of Ida Caroline Victoria Slade (my grandmother) birth certificate which has helped me alot with what some family members have told me.

I got so caught up in all the details that people have dug up in this thread (and let me say right here and now that you people are amazing) that I completely forgot, for a couple of days, that the reason I tripped over this thread in the first place was that I ran a search on Adolphus Frederick Slade, looking to see if I could find a picture of him. Have any of you come across one in your research? (Or, for that matter, a picture of anybody in his family tree?)

Hello radrian8888
I can tell you that Adolphus Hulme Slade married my gt gt Aunty Fanny Kidder Christy. They were expecting their first child. He was a very busy man working as a Stockbroker and spent many long hours away from the home. They lost their baby and Fanny passed away from pregnancy complications in 18.02.1879. They lived in Belmont, Chislehurst, Faversham, Kent England. He very soon married his housekeeper. His family were well off as were the Christy family.
Hope this is of help.
