Just wondered what this meant:-
Anderson Peter Owairoa Coromandel attested by Alexander McGrigor
This is on th 1862 electoral roll - what do they mean by attested?
-
??enrolled..thinking of army application of word.
Maybe he had to vouch he was citizen??

If it was to vouch that someone was a citizen, Alexander McGrigor must have been of good standing within the community to be a position to do that! :)

they are all the same in DSC

Thanks Althea - I am still plodding away with the research on the McGregors! :)
-
LOL ;D
I didn't click to that when I posted those threads!!!
It would seem from all those other listings in the paper that the person to go on the roll needed to be enrolled by someone..like a warden
Looking a tthe list there are several men who's name is repeated, so they must have had the authority to do the enrolment
