I'm trying to find information about my grandfather, Stanley Robb Neely, from Liverpool, born around 1920.
He met and married my grandmother, Ida May Fitzroy, in Co Down, Northern Ireland, where they lived until he passed away in 1991.
He fought in WWII and after the war he became a joiner.
Unfortunately I don't know anything about his life in Liverpool before the war or before he met my granny so I'd be grateful for any information.
Thanks.

There's a birth registered in Toxteth Park in q/e March 1920:
Stanley R Neely
mother's maiden name Robb
-
As Stanley was born 1920 he's not going to be on any census with his parents
here's is birth entry on FreeBMD
Stanley R Neely
Mar 1920 Toxteth Park Lancachire vol 8b page 509
Mother’s maiden name Robb
Do you know the names of his parents - there's this marriage entry
Mar 1905 Liverpool vol 8b page 21
Henry Neely
Name on same page
Mary Margretta Robb
-
Hi and thanks for that information.
I'm afraid I haven't a clue about any of his family, but hopefully these names will help me get started.
-
Have sent a PM re possible siblings (who may be still living)
-
There are also these birth entries on FreeBMD with mmn ROBB possible siblings
Mar 1912 Toxteth P Susan M Neely
Jun 1914 " Sarah K Neely
Jun 1923 Liverpool Neely
If you order his birth certificate from GRO this will confirm parents names, his father's occucpation and where they were living in 1920

Many thanks, that will help me to get off to a great start!

Anyone any idea how to trace my grandfather's WWII army records? I don't know what Regiment he was in, which doesn't help.
-
If you are now the next of kin you may apply for his records. It takes the best part of a year for them to arrive and they cost £30. They do have a strict order as to who can apply for the records.

This will explain it all.

Hi,
Not sure whether you're still active on here? I came across this while doing some of my own family tree research. My grandfather, Jack Neely, was Stanley's younger brother. Although my Neely grandparents are no longer alive, my mum and auntie may be able to help fill in any gaps. We are still all in Liverpool :)
