The guide to London and Middlesex burials at the top of the Rootschat boards strongly recommends the London burial grounds website if you want information on London churchyards today.

The information on St Luke's from the website

Most central London churchyards were closed in the early 1850s overwhelmed by the numbers of burials they had for many years been considered a growing health problem. Where they survive, many having been encroached on for further building of roads,  railways and other buildings etc they were largely cleared and turned into pleasant green areas in the later part of the C19th.

Most of our ancestors were not wealthy enough to have had enduring monument placed on their grave. Did Joseph Lloyd leave a will for instance - was he a man of some substance whose family could afford a gravestone?

Thanks again for that link Valda, it was very interesting.

My Joseph LLOYD was a gentleman/cornfactor and a Captain in the Honourable Artillery Company on his death in 1834. He lived at 29 Bunhill Row. His family had property but I would not say wealthy. Many thanks again Jan

The London Metropolitan Archives have information on monumental inscriptions for St Luke Finsbury

No date given so no indication of when it was done. If you can't get to London it is likely to be on microfilm and you would be able to order and view it at your nearest Family History Centre.
