Title: Mary Feest (1731 - 1810) & William Hobden
Post by: binge on Wednesday 21 March 12 16:58 GMT (UK)
Sometime ago I was looking for details of Mary Feest, who when she was living in the Falmer area around 1760-80 had a son by William Hobden.  I am resonably sure they did not marry despite some records to the contrary. William is alleged to have fathered twins by another woman in 1771-  the same year that Mary Had her son William by him.
Mary was born in Goring by Sea and had several siblings.

Can anyone tell me who William's parents were & did he actually marry anyone?

There are 14 people on Genes Reunited that have your William Feest, born Falmer 1771 in their family trees.
Perhaps one of those knows a bit more to help you.    Roy G

Without a birth year or a parish for William senior, its going to be an almost impossible task.  Is there any more info in the local parish records, like an order made for him to contribute towards his child's (or the alleged twins) support?   Roy G

It seems  that William Hobden was born in c1741, & was the son of a Daniel Hobden. It is also likely that William Feest - his son - was born in Falmer nr Lewes.
Ancestry says William & mary were married but I doubt that!!
