Would anyone have access to the marriage registers of St Stephen and St Agnes, Burmantofts, Leeds. I am interested in the 1935 marriage of Fred Speight and Rose May Wilson Tyreman.

Statistically, that is somewhat unlikely, there are 4 births in 1911/1912 for Fred but if Peter confirms thay have died you can post the information.

Thank you both for your help. I do appreciate that a 1935 marriage is going close to the possibility of at least one of the parties still being alive. Nevertheless, the info seems to indicate that they were both born more than 100 years ago.
Importantly for me, the two witnesses were unknown to me until now. They were the brothers of the bride and all three were my mother's first cousins. One named after his father, the other after his grandfather.

We seem to be following the same thread, My father in law is Colin - Son of Fred Speight and Rose May Wilson.
You seem to be a bit further along than we are, do you have the names of siblings from either side, just to confirm we're following the same family tree, if you prefer just first initials for the sake of privacy.
We're curious to see if we could actually be related.

With Regards to Nuffin Avenue.... Could it possibly be Kyffin Avenue?
Speaking to my father in law he's just said.... When grandma Speight (Fred's Mum) died Rose and Fred moved into 4 Kyffin Avenue to bring up George and Ernest, Fred's Stepbrothers and their surname was Jobbins, They were the children of Fred's mothers 2nd marriage.

Hi Chelsea, this could be interesting. My maternal grandmother, Beatrice Olivia Wilson (1881-1961) was the oldest of 9 children of John Albert Wilson and Mary Louisa Leach.
After my grandmother was born, the family went to Montreal, Canada. The second child, George Frederick was born there in 1883. The family then moved back to Leeds, where the rest of the children were born.
George Frederick appears in the 1891 and 1901 censuses as an 8 and 18 year old, living with his parents.
George F appears in the 1911 census, age 28, unmarried.
Living at the same address was Ada Tyreman, 28, married.
There is a marriage of Ada Coleman to George Tyreman m. 1900 Leeds Registered Building RB/132/164
There is a birth of Margaret Thompson Tyreman b. 1906 Leeds West WEST/261/313
I can find no death record for George Tyreman
There is a birth of Rose May W Tyreman b. q/e June 1910 Holbeck 9b 491
There is a Leeds registry office marriage between George Frederick Wilson and Ada Tyreman in the September qtr of 1913.
There are several births to the Wilson-Coleman family:
George Frederick b. q/e June 1912 Leeds 9b 624 Mother Coleman (Witness at Rose's wedding)
John Albert b. q/e March 1914 Leeds 9b 622 Mother Coleman (Witness at Rose's wedding)
William A b. q/e March 1917 Leeds 9b 514 Mother Coleman
Arthur b. q/e June 1918 Leeds 9b 477 Mother Coleman
I have no information re Fred Speight other than:

I checked for children of Speight-Tyreman and Speight-Wilson and came up with several possibles:

Hi Peter, thanks for getting back to us.
With regards to the information you've sent i am engaged to David M who is the son of CM (Colin).
His Auntie was Pauline (PJ). We currently live in the Canary Islands and Davids Father Colin is here with us on holiday, so through talking with him maybe we can fill in some of the blanks for you.
Here's what we know...
Rose May Wilson (Tyreman?) born April 1910 (David's grandma, Colin's Mum).
had 2 younger FULL Brothers: George & John.
George married Lena (not 100% on the spelling).
They had 3 boys, Eldest (can't remember name), Graham, and John.
Graham was deaf-mute due to meningitis as a baby.
John married but we don't know who to.
Rose's mother died and her father re married, he died, his widow (2nd wife) Re married there are 3 children but we don't know from which marriage: Teddy Thompson (Edward?) Margaret, and Alice.
As Colin understands it Fred & Rose married in St Georges, Leeds.
Fred was a Cloth Printer, went into the army RASC & Royal Artillery (World War II) after Dunkirk. At some point on his tour in Germany. We believe a son was conceived younger than Colin, we don't have anymore information on him but that is what started our journey on this site, if you come across any more info on him we would love to know.
Fred Speight, was born out of wedlock, and had 2 step brothers; George & Ernest Jobbins.
These were the children of Fred's Mothers marriage to ? Jobbins.
However when George & Ernest's mother & father died (Jobbins). Fred & Rose moved into 4 Kyffin Avenue, to look after them.
George served in the army, and Ernest in the RAF. Don't know if it helps but 4 Kyffin Avenue was in a place called the Sutton estate, Halton, Leeds. Which means they may be a rental agreement somewhere for Fred's mother & ? Jobbins.
Colin Speight (Fred's Son) was christened and confirmed in St Wilfrids, Halton, Leeds.
This is unrelated to info above, But Colin has married twice. once to a Thompson, and once to a Wilson. Funny old world isn't it, so it appears that we are related to you.
Can i ask how you came to be in Australia?

It seems likely that GF Wilson (sr) and Ada Coleman/Tyreman had five (5) children:
Rose MW Tyreman b.1910
George Frederick 1912-1997
John Albert b. 1913
William A 1917-1917
Arthur 1918-1919
Ada died in 1921 at age 37
George Frederick (jr) married Lena Sharp
15th April 1933 George Frederick Wilson, 21, Iron Moulder of 3 Wilson Court, father also G.F.W., Plasterers Labourer, married Lena Sharp 22 of 17 Bedford Place, father John James Sharp, Tailors Presser.
Witnesses Doris Wilson and John James Sharp at St George's Church, Leeds
Notice the witnesses at this wedding, Lena's father and possibly George Frederick's stepmother.
There is a marriage of George F Wilson to Doris Linfoot at Leeds Registry Office in 1923
There is a birth of Dorothy J Wilson in 1925, Mother Linfoot
George Frederick (sr) died in 1936 age 53. Did his widow (Doris?) marry someone with children?
George (jr) and Lena's children - David J (1940) Graham J (1942) and John A (1944)
There is also a birth in 1935 - Neil F Wilson, mother Sharp, that you may be able to rule out
As indicated earlier Fred and Rose were married at St Stephen and St Agnes, Burmantofts
As for me, I came to Australia in 1954 with my parents and two older brothers. I have a younger sister, born in Adelaide, who lives in London.

Thankyou so much for getting back to us with even more information, in particular some about yourself as clearly you and my fiance David are blood relatives and at 50yrs old there's not many left, it would be lovely to continue to stay touch and of course if we learn anymore I'll pass it on to you.
Did you manage to receive the photograph, I would be curious to know if there is any family resemblance to either my father in law Colin or fiance David and your family.
P.s if you ever find yourself in canary islands feel free to look us up.
Out of curiosity Fred was a pianist, colin is a drummer, and David plays both drums, piano & guitar, and makes his living as a singer/entertainer. We were wondering if the musical gene had made it all the way to Australia.

Colin always thought it was Rose MW and Fred that married in St George's Church,
as that was the parish where Rose served as a live in cleaner in the hyde terrace area.
He remembers having an auntie Dorothy but always thought she was a friend of Rose. He believes that she married to a friend of Fred, from the army Ron Hornby (Unsure on spelling). But he seems to recall her having a geordie accent, possibly Newcastle. Could this be the same person?
Colin wasn't aware of either of the children William A or Arthur that passed away as babies.
With regards to the children of George & Lena, he has no knowledge of David J, however Graham is the person who went deaf after contracting meningitis as a baby. He vaguely remembers Neil F Wilson and also says their family lived in Armley, near Leeds.
We will try and track down some photos, once Colin returns to the Uk after his holidays, so we can all put faces to the names if you wish.
As a side note. We find it ironic that your family is in the area of Adelaide. In 1972 Colin, Marianne and my fiance David (aged 3 at the time) were planning to move to Elizabeth, near Adelaide. But it never happened.

As far as can tell, David J Wilson was another child who didn't survive long. Birth and death registered in quick succession.

At the time of her marriage, Rose lived at 24 Doris Avenue, which is very close to St Agnes.
