I'm not researching Campbells- just posted a link to the earlier topic.

Might have information on William Lyle Campbell- any idea of when born or parents' names?

1864 was the start of birth registration in Ireland so it's important to know if he could have been born after 1864 (finding a birth certificate is much easier than finding church records). What about names of parents or spouse? any other clues to identify the correct William Lyle Campbell?

According to this website William Campbell (no middle name of Lyle) born 1861 Scotland-

hello aghadowey

this is fantastic as looks like these names are connected to the names i have been given. is the family tree maker a good site to find birth certificates? i was gonna go to belfast to proni to check out other names but maybe wont have to now i see all this info.

thanks a million for your help, you seem to be very well versed on the research business.

The link I posted was for a family tree which may or may not be accurate- you'd need to check all the details so just use it as a basis to continue your research not as proven fact.

GRONI, Belfast is where you get birth, death and marriage certificates. PRONI is Public Record Office and will have microfilmed copies of many church records, Wills and lots of other materials.

Have a look under ANTRIM RESOURCES at top of this board and then the IRELAND RESOURCCES board to see what's available.

Also have a look at Introduction to Irish Records (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,442233.0.html) and My Ancestor came from Ireland - where do I start? (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,498742.0.html).
