Hi, Adam married Ellen May Burley in 1919 and there is a 1931 Auckland divorce record for them in NZ Archives. Adam died on 9/4/1952 and is buried in Waikumete Cemetery in Auckland with his occupation described as "retired coal mine secretary". There is a 1952 Auckland probate for Adam in NZ Archives as well as 4 land transfer records. Someone might be able to have a look at these various records on your behalf. I have PMd a few more details to you.
Regards,
Craig.

Hello Half Pint
Looks as though Adam's older brother William TUNSTALL (bc 1877) was also at Hikurangi.
Our PapersPast website has a couple of mentions of Adam and there are several for "William" and "W". TUNSTALL. (> see "Northern Advocate" newspaper).

Hi
Adam Tunstall's newspaper death notice is not helpful! And I couldn't locate a notice for Ellen May ADLAM in the 'NZ Herald' although there may be one in the 'Auckland Star'. Her husband's notice was more helpful and provided the names of his stepdaughters - one may still be living hence the xxxx in the transcript. I'll .PM you those details.
Best wishes

Hi
I've located newspaper death notices for:
Myrtle Carruthers DAVIES (nee TUNSTALL) 1oct1920-25jan2009; this gives her late husband's name; her son's name and address; her sister's married name.
Philip William JONES 17sep1920-22oct1998; he married Myrtle's sister; the notice lists their 3 children and their spouses; the grandchildren
Robyn TUNSTALL died 25sep2002; the middle daughter of Thomas William Tunstall (1915-1997); son of William and Jane Tunstall, who are buried at Kaurihohore; the notice lists her sisters and a spouse; nieces and nephew.
As all the notices list living people, I'll PM them - may take 3 emails but we'll get there!!
Best wishes

Hi Half Pint,
Adam Gray Tunstall along with his brother William sailed from the Port of London on the 9th of June 1911. They were onboard the "Orvieto" of the Orient Line. The ship's manifest shows them to be heading for Sydney, from where they obviously went on the New Zealand. Both were described as Labourers, but had always worked as Miners.

Hi David,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes this is the person I am looking into. My Mother was his Daughter Hannah,(who is still alive at 95 years old.)I am the youngest of Hannahs 3 children, Maureen Thompson....Peter Jones (deceased) and myself Lynda Woodhead. I am interested in a brief background on Adam, so I can put it into a album for my Grandchildren if they may want it in later life.
Thankyou
Lyn Woodhead

Hi Lyn,
If you would send me your e-mail address I will be only too pleased to send what information I have on Adam Gray, the area and the village in which he was born.
Incidently we share a common ancestor James Tunstall 1742. I am descended from his son John and you from another son James.
Coincidently my Grandmother was another Hannah Mary Tunstall.
Regards,
dt

I'm new to messaging on this site so do not yet know how to send you my e-mail address. I need to exchange with you because I do have a little surprise for you. I have been corresponding with your cousin Janice for some time about the family tree. I told her about you and she would very much like to get in touch with you. Her and her husband live in Auckland
Janice is the GGD of Adam Gray's brother, they migrated to NZ together.
