Does anyone have information about Backworth Collieries.
My uncle Frank Dack of North Shields worked for them around the 1940's

Re Backworth Collieries.
I was born in Backworth. My family lived and worked in and around the village for 4 generations. I have a wealth of information about the area, It depends on what you would like to know!

Theres a very good book available about the Backworth area mines including Fenwick pit. The name escapes me but it turns up on ebay occsionally.
