Title: 1871 England Census
Post by: djalkman on Wednesday 14 March 12 05:30 GMT (UK)
Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help me decipher the company that my 2ND great grandfather worked for.

It had something to do with trains/railway stations as in an later census Bernard was listed as a Railway Porter (foreman).

It looks to me like N & R goods station?

I was hoping someone may recognise the name/company also and give me some information.

Thanks for your help!

Regards,
Alison

See The North Eastern Railway  http://www.railbrit.co.uk/North_Eastern_Railway/body.htm
If you go to http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html?coords=489890,510650  it will centre the map on the goods shed, which you can see on various old maps.
