Hi,
Is there anywhere I can go to look up a birth.
I am looking for Peter Asprey, he was born Lymm in 1832/33. His parents were George Asprey and I believe Ann Hanforth.
Any help gratefully received.

The Lymm parish registers for this period are online at the Cheshire Parish Registers website http://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/~cprdb/ but it was "down" when I tried it just now.
I have a link to Astbury/Aspery/Asprey from Lymm - descendants of Peter Asprey and Betty Clare who married in Warrington in 1803. ;)

Just had a hunt on census, and if I have the right family, your Peter's father George was born c1809, so could be the George Astbury, son of Peter and Betty (Clare) christened at St Elphin's, Warrington on 10 Jan 1808? If so, he had a brother Thomas (1816) who married Anne Hinton from Lymm at St Elphin's in 1844, and that's my (fairly distant) link to the family.

HI,
I have been on csc website before, and couldn't find Peter. He was my 2nd great grandfather. The records are all a bit unclear.
He definitely married Jane Rigby in 1857, they were on the 1861 census. It was thought he married a Charlotte Crowen in 1866, but on getting the marriage cert, I am sure its not the same guy, as his father is stated as Peter, and he has classed himself a bachelor. So therefore no definite records of Peter after 1861.
I was hoping that I could go look at the parish records myself, so will have to dig a bit more as to how to do that.
Thanks
Chris

I think Peter died and Jane remarried.
FamilySearch has christenings for two children of Peter and Jane: George William (chr. 15 Sep 1861, Salford) and John Joseph (chr. 29 May 1864, Manchester).
Possible death for Peter ASPREY in Manchester, Jun Q 1865.
Jane RIGBY or ASTBURY married Robert DAVIS, Manchester Cathedral, 24 Sep 1866. (Indexed by FreeBMD as ASTBURY)
1871 census
RG10/4020/129/26
9 Sandywell St, Salford
Robert DAVIS Head 48 Iron Moulder b. Preston
Jane DAVIS Wife 34 b. London
George Wm. DAVIS Son 10 Scholar b. Salford
John Joseph DAVIS Son 6 Scholar b. Salford
Jane Margaret DAVIS Dau 4 Scholar b. Salford
Robert DAVIS Son 2 b. Salford
There's nothing obvious for Peter's birth online, is there? ???

Hi,
Thanks for the info, i may send of for the death cert for Peter. Funny there is no birth registered for John Joseph, especially as Georges' was registered.
I will try and work on the info you have sent and see what comes from that.
It doesn't help that they keep changing the spelling of the name.
Thanks

You should be able to see the filmed / digitalised records of the parish records at Chester Record Office ( check with them they do have some Warrington Records) or Warrington Library or Liverpool RO
Check the tool bar out on the familysearch.org site for a research centre close to you, order the films and review in their centres!

The Peter Aspery who has a wife Charlotte was a fustian cutter , he is the son of *Peter & MAry on the 1851 census HO107 2203 319 31
Marriage George ASPREY = Ann HANFORTH 21/09/1830 Manchseter Collegiate ( Cathedral) as you have the date of the event and the place why not request a photocopy & postage quote from either Gt Manchester Record Office or Manchester Library to se what other clues you can get! You know you are looking for a fustian cutter, which ironically is the same trade as *Peter Asprey father of Peter) which suggests they could be siblings..
