Title: Help pls reading the address of George Walker
Post by: JustinL on Monday 12 March 12 14:53 GMT (UK)
Can anyone please make out the Glasgow address of George Walker scrawled down on his father's death registration of 1857?

67 South C???

I have been unable to find a clear match in either the 1851 or 1861 censuses.

Thanks. Justin

Looks like 67 South Coburg Street, Glasgow. (That was in the Gorbals district).

Thanks very much for that. The final, erroneous 'h' threw me a bit.

He was actually living just round corner from his cousins at 31 Nicholson Street.

Hello Lodger

I'm new to this forum and am probably doing something wrong. However, perhaps you can bear with me.

I notice that you are interested in the Paterson surname. I am Alexander (Sandy) Paterson, with roots in Kirkfieldbank, and prior to that, I believe, in Argyllshire.

I am particularly interested in the McPhadrick Lamonts of Coustoun, some of whom used Patrick/Paterson as an alias following the massacre of Lamonts in Dunoon in 1646. Are you able to help?

Yours,

Sandy
