Thank you anyway Kristin,
Seems the family moved around a bit, !
Daughter Margaret married High Church , Paisley 1824 to John Lennox, assumed family to be there as John died there also.

Have you checked the 1841 Paisley Census for any family? I have a copy for Paisley High, Low,ect. Please let me know if that would help you out. Just give me some names and ages.

This may be completely wrong but a check of the 1841 index for east renfrewshire shows that in Neilston Village we have a Jean Nairn of roughly right age but husband appears to be James Nairn.
Neilston borders on Stewarton and is 8 miles from Paisley

Hi Falkyrn,
Thank you for that, doesnt appear to be correct family.

Hi Myrna,
Thank you,

Hi Myrna,
Thank you ,do already have this info.
John [1764]is my ancestor and at the moment is proving elusive, was hoping to prove his death in Paisley[1834] and track remaining children.
Maybe I can help you.
Who are your Nairns?
Have recently finished reading OPR from Stewarton and listed all Nairns I could find!!
Was attempting to link families ,but there are missing records from 1716-1730, but like you believe Nairns from Stewarton are related , names are consistently same.
Curiosity is driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Rustor
My husband, Graeme's Gt Gt Grandmother was JANET ROBERTSON bp 1813 Sleat Stewarton Ayr. She married Alexander Watson who was a Gamekeeper at Newfield Lodge, Dundonald, Ayr. She died 1892 Newfield Lodge.
Janet was a daughter of JAMES ROBERTSON and MARGARET NAIRN.
James appears to have died pre 1841...(.Margaret Robertson was living with her sister Janet Nairn in 1841 Census and 1851
Census....Stewarton) She died 1859 age 78 ..Block.........Stewarton
She was born 1780 Stewarton, daughter of JOHN NAIRN and JANET MILLER. John was a Farmer at Mosshouse..... They had 5 children that I know of (James, Margaret,Agnes, Janet, John)
James was a Farmer at Mosshouse
John was a Farmer at Kilbride
I think John Nairn was bp 1756 Stewarton and died 1818 age 64, son of JOHN NAIRN and MARGARET (JANET) STEWART. They had 4 known children Jean,Robert,John, James.
I have a quite a few WATSON Census details, and a few NAIRN MI's and Census. Not a lot.
Many Thanks
Myrna

Hi Rustor
I have got JOHN NAIRN and JANET (MARGARET)
STEWART as the parents of JOHN NAIRN
(bn 17-8-1756 Stewarton)
BUT another person on RootsWeb has John bp 30-11-1749 Stewarton son of JAMES NAIRN and JANET KENDRY.
This person could well be correct because I have his MI and he died age 69. ( I had age 64 recorded...sorry to anyone who saw my mistakes...too easy to make them !!)
I have John Nairns and Janet Millers children as
James bn 9-5-1779 Stewarton died 1852 age 73 married Susan Parker
Margaret bn 28-10-1780 died 1859 age 78
married James Robertson 1811
Agnes bn 27-10-1782
Janet bn 28-8-1785...didn't marry died after 1861
John bn 1787 died 1844 age 57
married Mary Ann Parker (unsure of this marriage)
Please correct me if I am wrong anywhere.
Regards
Myrna

Myrna,
Looks like we share a relative. My GtGt GtGradfather was William Steven Watson born 13 May 1835 to Alexander Watson and Janet Robertson. He moved to Australia and married Margaret Hastings in Tumut.
Do we share any further links?

Hi Rob,
Your line appears as part of my research into Nairn surname, familes originating Stewarton, Ayrshire. You can view on www.rootsweb.com.
Family search database "Warmoss".
Have as yet been unable to positively add to my own lineage.

Cuthbert Nairn, b1719, of Bloak, did have a son called Cuthbert. He was born in 1759, and he married Janet Dunlop. The Cuthbert who was born in 1752 is in my Nairn line, ie the one farming at Rigghead and descended from Robert, c1708. There were three Nairn farms near each other, the two already mentioned and the third at Mosside. I have been told that the Mauchline Nairns are the Moss ones.
My correspondent claimed that he and his Mauchline family had a direct line though Cuthberts back to about 1700. He, like us, has been trying to link the lines. In 1980 a fellow researcher visited the Nairns still resdident at Bloakhillhead after 250 years. Their discussion led them to believe that the Robert and Cuthbert lines had separated about one or two generations before 1700,
We think it possible, now, that we have a DNA link which will connect the families. We must wait and see.
I admire Rustor's work and there are a couple of little things I would like to discuss with her. I need to refresh myself before doing so!!!! It is so easy to get muddled. One of those early Cuthberts called himself Robert on his marriage certificate, just making things worse.
