Julia Sharp
ashton under lyne 1941 - 1961
Hiya I wondered if someone could look up some information, on my grandfathers "would be" sister inlaw
They were all involved in a car crash, in Notton Nr Wakefield South Yorkshire on the 12 August 1961 Killing everyone except my grandfather who died 6 years later from related injuries, this tragic event was never really discussed at home, and the information has been lost over the years and generations,
I have only just found out Julia's Name, I know she was 20 years old and from ashton under lyne, I know there was an inquest in Wakefield on 18th September 1961 but thats it, Id like to know where she is buried and her date of birth if anyone could help that would be great (I live in south Yorkshire)
Thanks so much
:D

There is a birth in the March qtr. 1941 registered in Littleborough, Lancs. Ref 8E 129. Mother's name Hesketh.
The death was registered in the September qtr. 1961 in Wakefield. Ref 2D 477.
The surname is SHARPE.
Sorry no idea about the burial, possibly in her home town.

I would think it is likely that the family were taken back to their home town by others of the family so I would try thr local cemetery. I would also imagine such a tragic event would be reported in the local paper. By that I mean both the accident subsequent inquest and the funeral.

I was thinking that Gibel
Maybe I should have a trip over to Ashton Under Lyne and look through their local papers in the archives,
thanks so much.
Can I ask you? Do you think they would have been able to bury her if the inquest was still open in those days? It says in our local paper from sept 61 that her father was at the inquest and gave evidence, but its not very forthcoming on any other information.

My understanding is that the coroner gives permission for the burial to take place once causes of death is established. However my understanding vould be incorrect.
