Hey
Im looking to confirm what this says i get
1886
December
Thirteenth / Fifteenth
Glasgow/
16 Broad Steet
Mile End
Glasgow
what you think?
-
Yes, fifteenth
-
I'd say it's definitely 'thirteenth' and I wonder if the fourth line is a time - something a.m.? Maybe 8h 30m a.m. or something similar?
Heather
-
I agree, definitely Thirteenth
Fourth line, possibly "8 h 30 m AM" - i.e. born 8:30 AM
Alexander
PS I see I'm in agreement with Heather ;D
-
I read it as the thirteenth. Could it say Born A.M ?
Beaten to the draw Freckneale ::) ::)
-
Great minds Alexander! ;) I was modifying my post to add the time when you posted :)
-
Thanks for the quick reply
you think the street name is also correct?
-
Yep, I think it's Broad Street
Alexander :)
-
ok thanks

Does the inclusion of a time of day indicate a twin birth in Scotland, as it does in England?
-
i dont think it does no
-
sorry i cant read this one either
any ideas
-
hmmm i think it could be little ?
-
Might be Leith ???
-
Wrong post
-
I'd say thirteenth.
Also 1885 not 1886. Look at the figure six in 16 in address - quite different.

If you got that from Scotland's People, then just send them an email and tell them it's not very clear, they will rescan it and send you a better copy.

No, on all the Scottish birth records I have come across, the time of birth has been given.

billy blue im glad you pointed out 1885 as the birth was so late in the year it wasn't registered till January 1886 but he was actually born December 1885 :)
