Title: Peter John Keiser
Post by: EllenSmale on Tuesday 06 March 12 14:04 GMT (UK)
My maternal grandfather Peter John Keiser was killed in a car accident when my mom was 8 or 9 years old - 1934/1935 or thereabouts.  My gran had 4 small children & obviously no funds.  He was buried as a pauper. Does anyone know if there are records of these pauper burials. I haven't been able to find any info. Thanks Ellen

Can you tell us where he was killed or what province/town he died in?

Morning.  I have to assume that it was in Natal.  I have no knowledge of any siblings or his parents.
My mom never mentioned anything about living in another province. Her birth certificate states Camperdown as her place of birth. Her mother (my Gran) Ellen Elizabeth Pitcher was born in Harrismith. I also need to track down her ancestry - I believe she had a very large family.  Any help would as always, be greatly appreciated. Regards, Ellen.

Hi - I was at the PMB archives this morning.  I have found a file reference which lists a welfare case for Keiser children in 1934.  I have requested the file, so hopefully it will be a source of a lot of information.

I have also located & requested the file for Pitcher (my maternal Great grandparents) - so I feel that I am really gaining ground now.

What I haven't been able to find is any info on my paternal grandmother Isabella Jane Morgan.  I approached Tafta in Durban, where she was staying at the time of her death, but unfortunately they weren't able to assist without a definite date.  Hopefully, some family member may be able to recall but no-one seems too interested at this stage. Regards, Ellen
