Hi,
I have 2 things to find out about James BARLOW born 1754 and died 20 Dec 1830 Steelhouse Lane, Birmingham. He was married to a Catherine and I would like to find out the marriage details. I know from a newspaper article that he left a Will as there was an auction of property by his trustees in 1843 - does anyone know how I might find a copy of his Will?
Would appreciate any help in this matter.
Thanks,
-
Hi,
Welcome to RootsChat. The parish records for St Martin, Birmingham record that James BARLOW was buried 23rd December 1830, aged 76.

Thanks for the 2 replies so far. I am still trying to find out how to obtain a copy of a Will made pre 1858 in Birmingham. I know the date of death in 1830 for James Barlow, and I know he had some property and had made a Will. Does anyone know where I might try to get hold of a copy of it?
Any help appreciated.
I am also trying to track down the maiden name of a Rebecca who was married to a James Barlow of Fisher St Birmingham possibly around 1814. They had 4 children according to LDS - Ann born in 1814, James born in 1816, Rebecca born 1818 and William born 1820. They were all baptised at St Phillips, Birmingham.
Thanks, Bev

Marr:St.Martin's 2nd. March 1814
James Barlow = Rebecca Aston
No other information except they were married by licence meaning they were out of their Parish.
There are 2 Rebecca Astons, born 1790 & 1795 but only the 2nd. one born in B'ham. As there are no children after 1820 she may have died.
Burial St.Mary's Whittall St.26th. Nov.1821 Rebecca Barlow aged 26.
Whittall St. was the burial ground for St.Phillip's.
This is probably her Christening:
May 8th.1795 St.Martin's,parents William & Ann Aston.
Wills can be found at 2 places Lichfield repository or B'ham Archive. You will need to contact them but B'ham library is in the process of moving so they may not be much help.

Hi Jim,
Thanks so much for your reply. I will try both Lichfield and Birmingham to see how I go.
